Sole F80 Treadmill Review

The Sole F80 by Sole Fitness, is a folding treadmill with plenty of great comfort design features and entertainment extras. The treadmill has an impressive range of features including; a 15 degree incline,12 MPH maximum speed, 10 inbuilt exercise programs, telemetry enabled heart monitoring and pulse grips, an MP3 compatible sound system, a 7.5 inch LCD screen, and a frame, motor and deck lifetime warranty. At around $1500 dollars it offers less features than competing machines within this price range. Are all the features good quality? Is the machine high spec enough to warrant the price tag?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 55 H x 80 L x 35 W inches (139.7 H x 203.2 L x 88.9 W cm)
  • Deck Size 35 X 80 inches (88.9 x 203.2 cm)
  • 375 pounds maximum weight capacity (170.09 kg)
  • 265 pounds assembled weight (120.02 kg)
  • 295 pounds shipping weight (133.8 kg)

Key Features

  • Folding Deck Design – Easy Assist – SOLE Fitness if proud to offer the best folding treadmill design on the market. Our design features a patented all gear rack & pinion system with the Safety Lock Deck design that locks the deck into place when the treadmill is in the upright position. The F80 also comes with our Easy Assist Folding Deck Design, this unique feature allows you to release the deck, step back and the deck will unfold itself effortlessly while you watch. The Easy Assist Folding deck design is unique to SOLE and makes unfolding your treadmill all too easy.
  • Convenient Controls – Users want to have the freedom of increasing speed and incline quickly, the display features quick speed/incline buttons along the sides of the LCD making it extremely convenient and easy to control and maintain your workout.
  • Cushion Flex Whisper Deck – A unique design to any type of treadmill on the market, this deck provides our users with a comfortable and quiet workout as well as reducing impact of up to 40%. The reversible deck is the same type used in Commercial grade models and is wax lubricated, which means less work on the motor during use.
  • Precision Welded Frame – Accurate and precise welding is important when designing a treadmill. Durability of a product begins with a strong frame, capable of handling multiple users of various weights and heights.
  • Large Light Commercial Display Screen – The SOLE LCD console display makes work outs easier and more effective. A vibrant blue screen with large clean readouts provide users with helpful information, such as Heart Rate, Speed, Pace, Calories burned and many other useful bits of information
  • Message Board – SOLE is proud to offer integrated message boards on most of our models. What is the SOLE Message Board; it is an alphanumeric text center that sends scrolling messages to the user in an effort to guide them through all of the details of every workout. Ever wonder how to set up the user profile workout, just push the user profile button the message board will walk you though the rest. Think of the message board as having someone standing next to you reading from the owner’s manual on what to do next in just about every function of the treadmill. After years of seeing people get frustrated in the gym and at home we came up with a better way to help you use the full capabilities of our treadmills, and we made is very user friendly. The message board will also recap your entire workout after you are finished, so you can see your progress.
  • High Torque Motors with Flywheels- All SOLE treadmills feature the heaviest duty chassis and motors in their class. Beginning with powder coated all-steel welded frames and heavy duty stable inclines, we add industrial quality motors with large diameter, all-steel zinc coated balanced flywheels for a vibration-free secure running/walking surface. Why do we add a flywheel to our motors? Flywheels cause the motor to run cooler with less amp draw and extend the life off the motor. They also allow us to offer a start speed of .5mph of 1mph. SOLE also uses much heavier flywheels than its competitors which give you the fluid motion you’re accustomed to at the gym or on treadmill costing thousands more.
  • Rollers- When we chose the rollers for our treadmill line we went with only the best and outfitted all of our treadmills with the same high-end rollers that most people only offer on $5000 treadmills. We use 2.75″ rollers with a sealed bearing design and copper ground wires for each roller to reduce static. Larger rollers make for a larger contact surface against the belt and longer roller and belt life. This makes for smooth, quiet, static free motion that will stand the test of time.
  • Belts- We use double woven 2-ply belts with four layers on almost all of our treadmills. Two rubber layers over a middle PVC layer with a nylon backing that rolls over the deck and rollers. The rubber provides the durability, the PVC stops the belt from over-stretching and the nylon provides a smooth static free surface to glide over the deck and rollers.
  • Bullet proof frames All SOLE treadmills feature epoxy powder coated paint, baked to appliance finish durability. This finish protects the all-steel construction, along with welded steel, not bolted, our frames are indestructible thus the lifetime warranty.

Comfort

The key feature of this treadmill is its cushion flex whisper deck which claims to reduce negative impact on the body (during use of the machine) by up to 40%. This feature is most definitely the reason the treadmill feels so fantastic underfoot. You feel a really nice bounce when you use the machine to its highest capacity and the extra spring in your step really encourages you to stay on for longer. The frame feels solid and sturdy and does not shift, so you feel safe while you’re sprinting. The motor is very quiet and doesn’t sound heavy duty, this adds to the overall commercial quality feel of the machine as a whole.

Another particularly nice design feature is the generous 60 inch length treadmill belt which really allows users of all stride lengths to enjoy a fully stretched out run comfortably, without any worry of coming off the end. The negative aspects of the treadmill comfort-wise are the fan and speed change timings. The fan is not strong enough to make much of a difference to your temperature during a workout and the machine takes around a minute to adjust between speeds. This may not be an issue for fitter users, but those who need to slow down quickly may find they need a little more endurance than expected because the slow down speed drags.

Performance

Depending on what you intend the use the Sole F80 for, it does have a reasonable amount of features to enhance your performance levels and enable you to walk, jog and run with adequate customization facilities. The machine is really well designed for users who want a solid machine with a good level of incline and speed options and useful feedback options. The fact that the treadmill has a chest strap heart monitor means you’re guaranteed an accurate heart rate reading and you don’t have to grip the handles during full sprints – useful if you like to use your arms while you run.

The user profile allows you to see your full workout progress in detail which is a useful feature, especially if you want to change your settings during the customized workouts as you can then see those changes and save the program if it worked well for you. There are 6 actual exercise programs, 2 heart rate focused programs and 2 customizable options. The programs themselves are a little disappointing and don’t seem intuitive or well designed.

The most notable feature for performance is the incredible Cushion Flex Whisper Deck which really has an effect on how long you’re likely to stay on the machine. If a treadmill is comfortable and pleasurable to use, you’re only going to feel encouraged to use it for longer.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The machine itself is incredibly sturdy which unfortunately means, it is pretty hefty to move. The foldaway option is definitely a nice touch once the treadmill is set up, but you are more than likely going to need someone to help you get it in place when it is first delivered.

The LCD screen and programming is unfortunately rather basic compared to the rest of the machine which is a little disconcerting at this price range. The handlebars are also positioned rather strangely; although the adjustment buttons are conveniently on the bars themselves, the positioning makes gripping them properly rather awkward which could be a problem for users who need them in order to balance properly.

Entertainment

The treadmill comes with a couple of useful entertainment features in the way of a reading rack and speakers (compatible with MP3/ iPod). The reading rack is well designed and easily accommodates a Kindle or tablet which is useful if you want to read or watch programs during your workout. The speakers are poorly designed with pretty low sound quality; adequate for a workout but disappointing at this price point.

Warranty

  • Frame- Lifetime
  • Motor- Lifetime
  • Deck- Lifetime
  • Electronics- 5 years
  • Labour- 2 years

The Final Verdict

For the Sole F80 $1500 dollar price tag, you don’t get a high spec treadmill that is heavy on entertainment features or ultra modern extras. But what you do get with the Sole F80 is a quiet, comfortable and well designed treadmill. It has an incredible warranty and enough features to enable you able to work out with ease, and more importantly, it enables you to continue wanting to workout because of the low impact, super comfortable Cushion Flex Whisper Deck. Despite its programming, handlebar and extras shortcomings, it is still excellent value as a sturdy, high performance treadmill.

Sole F85 Treadmill Review

The Sole F85 is a strong and robust treadmill with lots of impressive features and a modern, attractive design. The treadmill boasts; a folding deck design, a Cushion Flex Whisper Deck, a 9 inch LCD screen, a Sole message board facility, 12 MPH maximum speed, 15% incline and a pulse grip and chest strap heart rate monitoring facility. At around $1800 dollars, the Sole F85 certainly isn’t within the budget range of treadmills, but is it still value for money?

Comfort

The machine has the capacity to comfortably accommodate a user of 400 pounds, so you’d expect it to feel pretty solid underfoot, and it certainly does. Despite the fact the machine is foldable, the Safety Lock Deck design works so well that it doesn’t feel as though the frame will move or rock during use. The Cushion Flex Shock absorption isn’t completely apparent the first few times you use the machine, but once it’s running smoothly this feature is a real joy and provides an exceptionally comfortable running surface. The extra long 60 inch long x 22 inch wide also receives top marks for comfort and safety. Those who are not completely tight or uniform in their running style will appreciate this extra ‘wiggle’ room. For users of all heights- particularly taller users with long strides- the length of the belt means full throttle sprinting with no stray footing worry.

The handlebar positioning is a little odd and doesn’t fully support a holding position which isn’t a great feature for those who struggle with balance, and the fan creates no more than a subtle breeze which has no real impact on your comfort levels during workouts.

Performance

On a basic level, the F85 provides a solid, comfortable base for basic walking and running programs. The incline level and 12 mph speed limit are adequate customization features that allow for higher intensity workouts if you wish to increase your fitness levels.

There are however a few issues with the treadmill that essentially render a large proportion of the features unusable depending on your needs.

The first issue is the fact that the machine is meant to be telemetry enabled which means it should be compatible with any polar chest strap. Unfortunately if you use your own chest strap and not the one they send you , you could find your heartrate is off by a long shot. This problem doesn’t make the feature unusable but it does make it irritating to keep switching equipment.

Another major issue on this machine is the programming. You get 2 customizable options, 2 heart rate and six preset programs. The 6 preset programs are very basic and unfortunately don’t tell you the distance travelled in as much detail as you might like. Rather than hundredths (2.21, 2.22, 2.23 etc) the display only reads in the tenths so you only know you’ve done 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 etc. You’ll also find that the heart rate programs are not very easy to work with. The program uses your optimum heart rate information and is designed to keep you within that heart rate, however, the way it does that is by changing the incline position on the machine, which you cannot adjust during the program. Unfortunately this can create heart rate spikes which then eventually make the program shut down automatically.

Unfortunately the mechanics of the machine are well designed to enhance the users fitness levels, whereas the programming almost seems designed to do the opposite.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The machine can accommodate users of up to 400 pounds, so you should expect it to be heavy when it arrives. If you can get the machine put in the place you want to set it up you will save yourself an injury. It is easy to assemble and the foldaway option works really well to save space, particularly as the hydraulic lowering when you unfold it stops any parts snapping back into place and potentially hurting any child/ animal underneath and/ or the machine itself.

The cup holders are very deep and large which is always convenient when you’re looking to keep yourself well hydrated. The colours on the LCD screen aren’t particularly well thought out as the blue background and white writing don’t contrast enough for maximum easy reading.

The one exceptionally inconvenient feature of the machine is the fact that it does not have a volume button, so you are unable to adjust the sound levels whilst you are in the middle of a workout. You can go to the device and adjust it there, but you wouldn’t be able to do it with ease if you’re in the middle of a workout.

Entertainment

The entertainment features on this treadmill are the MP3 compatible speakers and the reading rack. The reading rack is a ledge which would place the tablet or Kindle in front of the screen, these types of entertainment item fit well on the thin ledge but you would probably struggle with a full sized book. The speakers are adequate and provide a relatively OK sound, aside from the volume issue (mentioned above) they are better quality than most you find inbuilt into exercise machines.

Warranty

  • Frame- Lifetime
  • Motor- Lifetime
  • Deck- LIfetime
  • Electronics- 5 years
  • Labour- 2 years

The Final Verdict

The Sole F85 is definitely a top of the range performance treadmill that can be enjoyed by all users; fitness lovers, home gym enthusiasts and especially professional runners. Unfortunately if you’re not buying it to improve your running technique; using it for full pelt sprints and endurance runs, it simply cannot be labelled as ‘exceptional value’.

It is well made, sturdy and has exceptional comfort levels and a fantastic warranty.

Invest if you’re a professional runner or runner enthusiast who needs the ability to enjoy low impact, full throttle running on a machine that’s built to take it. Look around for something else if you plan to just use it for walking or have particular programming or feedback needs.

Comfort

The treadmill is an incredibly sturdy and solid machine that looks and feels like it isn’t going to budge when used at full capacity. The sturdy frame combined with the exceptional Zigtech cushioning means you feel safe and comfortable while you use this machine. Those with longer strides who like to use their treadmills full whack will be pleased with the ample treadbelt size of 20 x 60 inches which leaves plenty of room for all out sprints and stretched out strolls.

The fan is adequate and provides a nice breeze while you work out although you may find it’s a little too light if you use the machine for full powered exercise sessions.

Overall you can’t really fault the comfort, the machine runs smoothly, even on its highest incline and provides an excellent base to exercise on.

Performance

The performance on this machine comes in the way of; quickstep options, 15% maximum incline, 12 mph maximum speed, pulse sensors and chest strap monitor, 30 workout apps and iFit compatibility.

The 15 % incline on this treadmill means you have exceptional ability to really work those lower muscle groups and tone while you improve your heart rate. You may find you need to work up to the full incline and maximum 12 mph speed, but runners who really want to push their fitness will appreciate these features from the offset.

With the comfort of the belt and the quickstep options allowing you to customize your workouts you may not feel you need to use a workout program, however if you do decide to have the guesswork taken out of your session, you have a massive 30 preset programmes to enjoy which have been designed by a personal trainer. All in all you have everything available to allow you to enjoy intense, varied workouts at just the push of a button. The feedback capabilities are basic but include telemetry enabled chest strap heart rate monitoring which is great because the grip sensors are usually inaccurate.

If you have chosen to use the iFit capabilities you can access lots more programs which are innovative and imaginative and do add a lot of fun to your workout experience, but it’s not essential to use it on this machine as it has so much available already in the way of workouts.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The machine is incredibly heavy and isn’t the easiest to assemble, if you can enlist some help then do so to save yourself some time and potentially some physical strain to.

The Spacesaver design with Easylift Assist is really great if you need the treadmill to use up a little less space when you’re not using it, be warned it does not fold up fully so you may find it’s not as compact as you expected.

The programming and user interface are all very easy to work your way around despite the plethora of options, you’re still able to use it easily. The information you input is basic and doesn’t really enable the machine to give you accurate readouts.

Entertainment

The machine has an Intermix Acoustics 3.0 sound system and Compatible music port for iPod which means you can enjoy a few tunes while you work out, as long as you’re willing to endure the slightly primitive sound coming from the speakers. If you use your headphones you’ll find the sound is a much better quality but you’ll need to use external music devices if you want loud, strong base.

The iFit capabilities are more than enough to keep anyone entertained with different workouts available every day and the ability to workout using local routes and routes worldwide. The full membership isn’t cheap at around $100 dollars a year and you’ve no need to purchase it on a machine that has so much available in the way of workout capabilities and customization already. If you do decide you want to invest remember the console is iFit compatible so you don’t have to rush and purchase membership right away.

Warranty

  • Frame and Motor- lifetime
  • Parts- 3 years
  • Labour- 1 year

The Final Verdict

At around $1150 dollars the Reebok Zigtech 910 treadmill isn’t cheap, but it certainly is value for money. The exceptional comfort levels combined with the various innovative customization options mean you’ve got more than your money’s worth before you’ve even begun to explore the programs or iFit capabilities. The extras are mediocre in quality but make no difference to the fact this treadmill packs a real punch for the price.

Users of all ability will benefit from the high comfort levels and great variation in customization options; all in all,a fantastic buy.

Comfort

The solid and sturdy feel of a piece of exercise equipment is incredibly important. It affects how freely you feel you can move your body and most importantly how much you feel comfortable pushing yourself without worry that the machine will break or move.

The Reebok 1410 Treadmill is as solid as at-home gym treadmills come. It is exceptionally safe and does not move at all, even when you use it to its full capacity. You get a real quality feel with the 3.5 CHP Commercial Plus Motor and extremely well designed frame, in fact it is difficult to believe that a treadmill this solid is foldable.

The belt does not jerk and runs super smooth which is a real pleasure to run on, especially when combined with the ZigTech cushioning and the generous 20 x 60 inch running area.

This treadmill really is a true pleasure to run on and earns its $1500 dollar price tag on comfort alone.

Performance

Without using the iFit capabilities you’re well set up to improve and maximise your fitness levels on this piece of machinery. The performance features (aside from the iFit) are; 36 workout apps, 2 HD video workouts, various customization facilities and feedback capabilities.

The workout apps and videos are all well designed and make the most of the machines various technical features. The polar chest strap reader is particularly useful as the pulse grips don’t really offer an accurate heart rate reading whereas chest straps do. The basic feedback options are fine on the machine (calories, speed, distance etc) but better if you pay for iFit. The free iFit features are not particularly impressive and shouldn’t be considered a real selling point, however if you want to invest in the full iFit membership (around $100 dollars a year) you will see your workout horizons expand massively.

However, in this instance, the machine has so much to offer and is of such excellent quality for the price, you will have more than enough to keep you entertained, working hard and enjoying your workouts without the iFit feature.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

You’ll find the most challenging part of the machine usage comes when you get it delivered and have to A. get it in place and B. assemble it.

The package is extremely heavy and you’ll benefit from getting it placed exactly where you want to set it up and use it. The assembly can take a little time as you have all of the mechanical components to fix together and then the WIFI and android tablet to get set up as well.

Once you’re good to go the touch screen console and layout are all extremely easy to use and operate. The one problem you may have is the front deck below the console is quite far forward which is a little inconvenient when you stay close to the handlebars during use or when you first start walking on the machine. Your feet can start to catch a little bit if you’re not careful and it can be a little irritating when you forget to limit your forward stride.

Entertainment

Your entertainment options on this machine come in the form of an Android powered browser and the Intermix Acoustics 3.0 Sound System.

The browser is great but does restrict certain websites which is something you should check with the manufacturer before you purchase if you had a particular website you wanted to view during your workouts. The screen is also so small that, you do struggle to view much on the browser; this also renders the HD videos and iFit capabilities a little less impressive than if they were displayed on a larger screen.

The iPod compatible sound system works OK and provides an adequate sound quality for your workout.

Warranty

  • Frame and Motor- Lifetime
  • Parts- 5 years
  • Labour- 2 years

The Final Verdict

Without all the bells and whistles the Reebok 1410 Treadmill is worth $1500 for its exceptional quality mechanics and frame alone. From the moment you step on the machine you don’t question the fantastic design and strength of the motor and frame. Without iFit you’re perfectly able to enjoy plenty of customization features and great workouts on an extremely comfortable machine. With the iFit capabilities included you’re able to enjoy an amazing app on an amazing machine.

Purchase if you want long lasting, exceptional comfort and quality at an incredibly reasonable price.

Proform ZT3 Treadmill Review

The Proform ZT3 is a lightweight, budget treadmill with a basic selection of key features and specifications. Features include; a 1.5 CHP Mach Motor, TreadSoft cushioning, 10 mph maximum speed, 10% maximum incline, 6 inbuilt workout programs and an LCD window with priority display.

With the majority of budget treadmills at around the $400 dollar mark you know you’re getting a no frills machine, but Proform always provide well designed machines no matter what price point they are at. Where has Proform saved the money on this machine? Is it good value for money? Who is it suitable for?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 69 x 28 x 12 inches (175.2 x 71.1 x 30.4 cm)
  • 154 pounds (169.8 kg) assembled weight
  • 163 pounds (73.9 kg) shipping weight
  • 250 pounds (113.3) maximum user capacity

Key Features

  • 6 Personal Trainer Workouts
  • TreadSoft? Cushioning
  • 10 MPH Maximum speed
  • 10% Incline
  • 5 CHP Mach? Motor
  • Quick Speed control
  • Quick Incline Contol
  • LCD Window with priority display
  • Racetrack feature
  • 250 pounds maximum user capacity
  • 69 x 28 x 12 inches (175.2 x 71.1 x 30.4 cm) product dimensions
  • 18 x 55 inch running space

Comfort

Considering the fact that the machine can only accommodate users up to 250 pounds, it does feel incredibly sturdy, even when you’re using it at full running capacity. You may not feel as much comfort underfoot with the TreadSoft cushioning as the manufacturer describes, but it’s not uncomfortable to use and a lot quieter than you might imagine it to be and you are still getting joint impact protection with the cushioning feature.

The 18 x 55 inch running space is tight but bigger than other treadmills in this price range, it feels safe to use and unless you have a particularly long stride you will find you are able to stretch out quite comfortably without coming off the end.

The belt runs smoothly and you certainly don’t find that you’re jerking or jolting during any of the movements. The incline and speed adjustments are all motorized as well so you can comfortably enjoy the features without leaving the machine to manually adjust them.

Performance

You have limited performance features on this treadmill in the form of; Feedback of calories, distance, speed and pulse, a handlebar grip pulse reader, 6 personal trainer workouts, 10 mph speed, 10% incline and quick controls.

The feedback features are useful although very generalized, the handlebar grip pulse reader is a nice touch but you’ll find the readings aren’t as accurate as polarized chest straps, this is particularly annoying if you are looking to track that aspect of your health. The workouts are designed by a personal trainer and genuinely do intensify your workout experience and help you burn more calories and use more muscle groups. If you are a beginner you’ll more than likely want to use the incline and speed changes at your own pace before you work up to the workouts as they are relatively difficult. The quick controls are motorized which is great and encourages you to diversify and intensify your workouts because it takes minimal effort to do so.

Overall you’ve got more than a few features to be getting on with in the way of performance and you’ll feel a little more encouraged to work out than on similar budget machines because it feels sturdier and a little higher in quality than most.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

One slightly inconvenient feature is the lack of water bottle holder. There are holes on the machine which could hold a very slim bottle if needs be but the space would have been better used by creating an actual water bottle holder space.

The space above the display (central) is perfectly adequate for placing an iPad or ereader which is convenient and well positioned.

The most inconvenient aspect of the Proform ZT3 Treadmill is the delivery and assembly. If you don’t have anyone with you when the product is delivered you’ll need to hope that the delivery person will bring it in for you, if they do you’ll more than likely need to help. If you can get the box near where you’ll be using it you’ll be saving yourself a lot of physical strain.

Although the parts are basically labelled well and the manual contains diagrams, the assembly is still very fiddly and will probably take you a few hours.

Entertainment

The treadmill doesn’t come with any form of entertainment, and at around $400 dollars you’d be unlikely to get any that scored highly in the quality ratings anyway.

The machine is enjoyable to use which is always a necessary feature to persuade you to get on and use it in the first place. If you’re happy using it, you can easily set it up near a stereo or TV as it’s so quiet you won’t have to turn a program or song up to full volume to hear over it.

The Final Verdict

Despite the bargain price tag and the bare minimum of features, the Proform ZT3 still has more than enough going for it to keep any beginner enjoying light to moderate exercise with comfortable ease. It may not have any bells and whistles but it certainly is good quality for the budget price and stands out as one of the best budget treadmills available. Although Proform may have saved some money on the parts and extras, the fantastic design still shines through. A great buy for beginners or new treadmill users.

Comfort

The Proform 2500 Treadmill is built to give you a comfortable, enjoyable workout over and over again. The machine feels incredibly sturdy underfoot and you’ll feel like you can do anything on it without it moving much at all. The 3.5 CHP motor feels incredibly strong and you barely hear it working and the FS2 Cushioning combined with the generous treadbelt space means you’ll almost feel like you’re walking on air before you’ve even started to use the machine to its full capacity. The belt has a really enjoyable bounce to it and the motorized decline/ incline changes are super smooth. This treadmill really is extremely comfortable to use, you’re really looked after with these well thought out design features.

Performance

Without even considering the iFit app you’ve plenty to play with in the way of performance on this exceptional treadmill, features include; 30 workout apps powered by Google Maps, 15% incline, -3 to 0% decline, up to 12 mph maximum speed, heart rate monitor and polar chest strap, quick speed controls and the set-a-goal workout centre.

The comfort of the machine itself means you’re more than likely going to want to use it more and strive to reach those fitness goals faster.

The incline and speed limits are about average for this price range, the decline option is quite a modern feature and certainly adds a fun element to customized workout routines. You can seriously work several different muscle groups in different ways using various combinations of decline, incline and speed. The quick buttons are also a fantastic tool for quick intensifying of a workout or getting up to speed or heart rate quickly if you’re already warmed up.

You have two ways to track your heart rate; the handlebar pulse sensor on the machine tracks your heart rate and the polar chest strap (included) also transmits your heart rate to the console, if you’re looking for real accuracy – use the chest strap.

Your distance, time and calories are also tracked on the machine and the set-a-goal workout centre allows you to input your desired goals so you can track your progress on the machine.

The inbuilt workout options are pretty phenomenal as they truly utilize the various features of the machine. The full colour screen also makes them a little bit more fun than they can be without any visuals.

If you do choose to use iFit you should be aware that without membership it really won’t make much of a difference to the facilities you have on the Proform 2500. If you do choose to purchase the membership, you’ll have access to some pretty cool features including personal trainer workouts that change daily, local and worldwide routes that reflect the incline of the route you’ve chosen and competitions to enable you to see how your performance pitches against other people using the app.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

It is heavy to set up and you may struggle with your WIFI/ iFit connection and programming at first but otherwise the whole treadmill is incredibly user friendly. The troughs for keys/ water bottles/ remotes etc are perfectly large and deep, the programming is simple to use (despite the many options available) and the machine works like a dream. The only slight (and it is very slight) issue is the fact that the volume button can be a little too sensitive and go straight from quiet to loud with no in between, but this issue is most definitely not a deal breaker.

Entertainment

You’re not going to fall short of entertainment with this machine. iFit (if you use it), a full 7 inch colour screen, declines, inclines, 30 workout programs and various other features enable you to mix your workout up every single use. However the only true entertainment is the iPod dock and ability to place your tablet on the console.

It is slightly annoying that your tablet can only go in front of the 7 inch screen, however, it’s the most efficient place for it to go so you’d just have to choose between entertainment or feedback which isn’t a huge sacrifice. The speakers work well and only highlight how smooth and quiet the treadmill motor is as you don’t need much volume to blend out the only noise coming from the machine- your footsteps.

Warranty

  • Frame and Motor- Lifetime
  • Parts- 5 years
  • Labour- 2 years

The Final Verdict

The Proform 2500 Treadmill truly is a dream. Expect a high quality, quiet, robust, all singing all dancing machine for the $1500 dollar price tag. The only downside is the iFit boasting from Proform which should really come with a 1 year premium membership as standard as the free membership is essentially pointless and could be considered a bit of a gimmick. However even without the iFit, this machine really is good value for money and will provide you with endless workout possibilities and a fantastic opportunity to tone up and improve fitness levels with ease and comfort time and time and again.

Proform 790t Treadmill Review

The Proform 790t Treadmill is a well designed machine with a strong motor, excellent comfort levels and plenty of impressive workout features all for under $1000 dollars. The treadmill boasts; ProShox Elite 2 Cushioning, iFit compatibility, 16 inbuilt workout programs, an iPod music port, Dual Grip heart rate monitoring, 12 mph maximum speed and 12% incline capacity. For around $820 dollars you get an awful lot of bang for your buck. Are the components worth the extra money? Does the treadmill feel high quality even though it costs under $1000 dollars?

  • 325 lb. Weight Capacity: The ProForm 790 T accommodates up to 325 lbs.
  • Warranty: Lifetime Frame and Motor Warranty, a 2-Year Parts Warranty and a 1-Year Labor Warranty.

Comfort

The comfort on this machine is comparable the the quality feel of a treadmill priced over $1000 dollars. The strong 2.5 CHP Mach Z™ Commercial Motor works quietly and smoothly and is the type of motor you would usually expect to see on higher priced models. The frame feels incredibly solid and you feel safe and secure using the machine to its full capacity.

The ProShox cushioning is what gives the treadmill its high end underfoot feel. You get a bounce and movement on this belt comparable to gym treadmills, it really is that comfortable. The cushioning is designed to protect your joints from the negative impact of the movement and you certainly feel that innovative design on an immediate level when you are using the belt.

The 20 x 55 inch running space is great and only 5 inches less than some more expensive machines. Most users will find this a comfortable space to run on, especially when combined with the great ProShox underfoot feeling.

Overall the comfort levels on this machine are second to none, and at the price you’ll be surprised at how high end it feels to use.

Performance

Using a machine that feels so fantastic to use before you’ve really interacted with the console is definitely a great sign of things to come. If a machine feels fantastic underfoot, you’re going to want to use it more often.

The 790T has a lot going for it in the way of performance but does have a few negatives that could be a turn off for some users.

The pulse sensors are unfortunately very inaccurate and actually, don’t even feel like they have been secured on the machine very well. It’s a shame telemetry features and a chest strap additional extra couldn’t have been offered at this price point.

The quick speed buttons are great and allow you to go up to 12 mph and 12% incline quickly which is really useful if you’re already warmed up.

The most unfortunate performance feature of the machine is the preset programming on offer. They are designed by a fitness trainer and have 8 weight loss options and 8 performance options. Unfortunately if you aren’t already at least moderately physically fit, you don’t stand a chance of getting through one of these programs. They are actual quite brutal and you really will have to work your fitness up to a good level to be able to endure one of these programs. It is a shame that beginners and intermediate level programs could not have been offered as well.

Aside from all of these inbuilt features you also have iFit capabilities. The free membership is pretty pointless, if you do opt for paid membership you may not have all of the facilities on this particular machine to enjoy it to its full capacity, especially visually.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

Considering its quality feel, the machine is actually relatively easy to set up. As long as you make sure you pay attention to each stage of assembly it shouldn’t take you long, especially if you have someone to help you. It is very heavy so you may want to get some floor mats to set it up on to protect your surfaces, particularly wooden floors. You should also consider the fact that it won’t fit through a standard door frame once it’s been assembled so you’ll want to put it up where you intend to use it.

The machine as a whole is incredibly easy to use with easy quick buttons and a simple user interface. The display is adequate, although at 6 inches it is quite small and compact. The troughs on either side are very practical and leave enough room for water bottles and a few added extras like remotes/ phones etc.

Entertainment

The entertainment on this machine comes in the form of Intermix Acoustics 2.0 with iPod music port and a reading rack.

Unfortunately the speakers are poor which is commonplace with inbuilt exercise machine music systems, it is a handy feature though if you have no access to other entertainment and want something basic to play your music through. The reading rack is adequate and large enough to hold thin items or your MP3 player or iPod.

The machine feels so good to use you’ll probably not mind the lack of entertainment as you will be too busy enjoying your workouts.

Warranty

  • Labour- 1 year
  • Parts- 2 years
  • Frame and Motor- Lifetime

The Final Verdict

At under $1000 dollars, the Proform 790T is a steal.

Despite its shortcomings in the way of shoddy pulse grips, a tinny music system and aggressive inbuilt programs, the machine is built to last and built to have you using it over and over again.

It’s actually quite mind boggling how Proform have managed to input this level of quality into a machine at this price point.

Don’t purchase if well designed bells and whistles are necessary for you, purchase if you want a long lasting, rugged treadmill that feels fantastic to use.

Proform 590T Treadmill Review

The Proform 590T is a well designed treadmill with lots of useful and impressive key features, all for under $700 dollars.

The machine boasts; ProResponse cushioning, a 20 x 55 inch belt, 16 workout apps, iFit compatibility, fold-away feature, pulse sensor heart rate grips, 10 mph maximum speed, 10% incline and iPod compatibility. For only a few hundred dollars more than the most basic treadmills on the market, is this machine worth the extra money? Does it offer more of a universal usage than the most basic treadmills?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 78 x 30 x 11 inches (198.12 x 76.2 x 27.9 cm)
  • 205 pounds (92.9 kg) assembled weight
  • 239 pounds (108.4 kg) shipping weight
  • 20 x 55 inch (50.8 x 139.7 cm) treadbelt
  • 300 pounds (136 kg) maximum weight capacity

Key Features

  • 25 CHP Mach Z Motor: Experience expanded power with this quiet, self-cooling drive system. Employing an axial fan, this motor reduces noise as it cools internal components enhancing your workout environment and extending the motor’s life.
  • ProResponse Cushioning: This innovative cushioning integrates firmer support zones at the foot strike and takeoff portion of your stride and a softer support zone throughout the rest.
  • 6″ Backlit Display: Keep track of your workout progress on this 6″ display that displays your speed, time, distance, incline, pulse and calories burned.
  • 0–10 MPH QuickSpeed Control: Instantly change the speeds between 0–10 MPH with the touch of a button.
  • 0–10% Quick Incline Control: The best and most convenient incline adjustment allows you to change inclines with the touch of a button.
  • 16 Workout Apps: Get the workout you want with 16 built-in workout apps designed by a Certified Personal Trainer.
  • Dual-Grip EKG Heart Rate Monitor: Make the most out of every workout by monitoring your heart rate with these built-in handlebar sensors.
  • SpaceSaver Design with EasyLift Assist: This revolutionary design allows your treadmill to fold vertically for storage. To make it even easier, this treadmill includes a powerful shock that will help lift the deck with an easy push.
  • 20” x 55” TreadBelt: A vital component of the drive system, this roomy treadmill belt is designed to operate both smoother and quieter than the average treadmill belt.
  • Compatible Music Port for iPod: Rock your workout to your favorite music!
  • 300 lb. Weight Capacity: The ProForm 590 T Treadmill accommodates up to 300 lbs.
  • Warranty: Lifetime Frame Warranty, 25-Year Motor Warranty and 1-Year Parts & Labor Warranty

Comfort

The treadmill itself feels relatively sturdy underfoot and feels safe enough to lightly run on without worry of it shifting or breaking, although it’s always worth placing grip mats underneath a treadmill just for peace of mind. The ProResponse Cushioning is a good feature but unfortunately doesn’t seem to absorb much of the impact when you use the machine at full capacity. Like some of the cheaper Proform treadmills you can feel like the entire room shakes around you if you start to jog or run. If you’re looking to give your machine a pounding you may find you feel it in your surrounding room as well.

The belt is a little unreliable and can shift between users, which is inconvenient and a little bit of a safety issue if you don’t notice it. The running space is listed as 20 x 55 inches which is only 5 inches in length shorter than most modern treadmills. The space you have to run on is a comfortable size for most users and enables you to use the machine to its full capacity quite easily. Those who like to run full throttle and full speed, may not find this machine completely comfortable because of the ‘pounding’ issue and the 5 inch shorter length.

Performance

You have a lot to play with in the way of performance on this machine. The performance features are;16 inbuilt workouts, 10% incline, 10 mph maximum speed, pulse sensors, various feedback capabilities and iFit compatibility.

If you don’t have the iFit console, you still have plenty of useful features to enjoy on this machine. The incline and speed options aren’t the highest on the market but they are adequate, especially if you are new to fitness. The pulse sensors do not provide a particularly accurate heart reading which is common in most treadmills. The feedback options are basic and allow you to see information like calories burnt, distance travelled and speed.

The best quality inbuilt feature of the machine is the 16 different workout options which have been designed by a personal trainer. They push you to the absolute limit and really challenge your fitness levels as you progress. One rather large problem with this is that the majority of the programs are designed for people who are already moderately fit, whereas treadmills at this price range seem to be most used by those getting back into fitness, looking to maintain moderate fitness or getting through injury recovery. With 16 different programs they could have accommodated all three fitness groups (beginner, moderate and hard) rather than focus on those who are looking to intensify their experience quickly. The machine does have a good all round customization and well balanced list of key features that make it useful to a larger demographic than others in the same price range.

If you do choose to buy the iFit console you will find you have a completely different workout experience. You can have a personal trainer experience where you have a different workout every day, you can also track your progress in a lot more detail.

With or without the iFit this machine does leave you with an adequate amount of fitness tools to help you improve your fitness levels.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The machine is relatively easy to set up and requires a couple of hours assembly which will more than likely be a lot less stressful if you have someone to help you. If you do come across any issues you may find yourself a little bit frustrated with the customer services department who can be a little tricky to get hold of.

The console itself is easy to use despite looking a little complicated; the screen is backlit which is helpful in dim rooms, the screen however is remarkably small and could have a better contrast in colour to make it easier to read.

Considering the fact that a lot of less abled people will probably opt for this type of machine, it would greatly benefit from a graduated step on option at the back.

The foldaway option does not mean the treadmill folds up completely so be aware that it does close at an angle so isn’t as space saving as the advertising suggests.

Entertainment

The entertainment on this machine very much depends on whether or not you purchase the iFit console. If you don’t purchase the iFit console you may feel a little hard done to in the way of entertainment. If you’re part of the section of users who only want to use this machine for light to moderate exercise you really don’t gain anything from the 16 preset workouts as they are simply too hard.

The compatible music port for your iPod provides adequate sound and luckily the machine is so quiet during use you will be able to gain from the music system. The customization options on the machine are adequate but overall, the treadmill could cater for its largest demographic of users a lot better.

If you have chosen to use the iFit, your workout experience will improve as you can enjoy endless workout possibilities. Do remain aware that your 1 year free membership does run out after 12 months and costs around $100 dollars per year, per user after that time is up.

Warranty

  • Frame- Lifetime
  • Motor- 25 years
  • Parts and Labour- 1 year

The Final Verdict

The Proform 590 T is definately an improvement on cheaper models with a few additional features than mean it definitely is of a higher quality. However, are these additional features worth the extra money? Unfortunately the machine makes the same mistakes as similar models in that it simply doesn’t care for the users that are most likely to buy it. Aside from the iFit facilities, the workout options available on the machine itself simply pitch to a type of user that probably won’t purchase this machine.

Purchase the Proform 590 T if you want to enjoy moderate exercise on a basic, but sturdy machine. Avoid if you are a fitness expert or running enthusiast who needs to pound their treadmill on maximum capacity for hours every day.

Instead of tediously scrolling through options, the QuickSpeed control allows you to instantly change the speed of the treadmill between 0 to 10 miles per hour with the single touch of a button.

Comfort

At this price you may not expect a particularly robust treadmill. However, you may be surprised at exactly how safe and comfortable this machine feels. Despite its lightweight frame and design, it actually feels relatively sturdy during use.

The ProShox Lite adds a particularly pleasant underfoot feeling which you don’t often get at this price point. You won’t feel as though you’re walking on air, but you’ll certainly feel like you’re walking on something that cost a little more than $600 dollars.

The belt dimensions are 22 inches by 55 inches, which is only 5 inches more lengthways than a lot of the higher priced models. This is a really useful feature because the more movement space you have on the belt, the safer you feel.

Performance

The Proform 505 CST can only really be rated as an entry level machine in the way of performance. If you’re recovering from an injury, or struggling to exercise with a long term illness or injury, or you simply haven’t applied yourself to activity in a while then this really is the ideal machine for you. However, if you’re already at a good fitness level and require an all singing all dancing treadmill that can take a beating, this simply isn’t a match made in heaven.

The programs are all fairly adequate and you can track basic feedback like pulse, calories and speed and the machine has pulse pads for you to track your heart rate although, these can be fairly inaccurate.

It is a little disappointing that the iFit console is not included in the price (expect to pay around another $150 dollars) although not surprising at this ‘no frills’ level of exercise machine.

If you do choose to purchase the iFit console as well you’ll find your exercise options and progress tracking will become a lot more interactive and entertaining as it has calorie counting facilities, a 2 user capacity and the ability to enjoy various other workout experiences.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

Once your treadmill is set up it is incredibly easy to use and has a good layout with the exception of the cup holders which are far too shallow for most people’s water bottles.

Unfortunately setting the machine up is a little bit more difficult and you may find you start to burn off more calories than you thought you would before even stepping on the machine.

The manual doesn’t clearly explain exactly how to set the machine up and you have to assemble every single component. The most inadequately labelled parts being the nuts and bolts which are all mixed up together with no labelling. The assembly is the worst part of the process as the manual is misleading and the labelling on the parts is inadequate.

Entertainment

If you choose to purchase the iFit you’ll discover a lot more entertainment on your Proform 505 CST, however as the standard treadmill doesn’t come with the console it can’t be counted as part of the machines basic entertainment elements.

In the way of entertainment you only really have the music system to enjoy alongside your workout. The port is iPod compatible and the correct wiring should come with the machine as part of the package. The sound produced by the speakers is below par, however you get a similar experience with the majority of mid range and even top range machines so, it’s not completely unexpected. It’s a nice alternative to headphones during a workout.

Warranty

The Final Verdict

For under $600 dollars, the Proform 505 CST is good value for money as long as you understand what you are getting. You simply cannot expect a high performance treadmill at this price point, but you still have every right to expect a machine that works properly and works well.

If you’re new to fitness or simply want an easy way to incorporate gentle exercise into your day to day life this machine is perfect for you. If you’re in need of bells, whistles and more and want to bust several moves, several hours, every day on your treadmill, you’ll need to keep saving as the Proform 505 CST is simply not for you.
