Comfort

“The Smooth Agile DMT X2 Elliptical is a sturdy elliptical and the motion is smooth and quiet.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer is incredibly solid and sturdy and has a really natural and comfortable elliptical feel. The position your feet move in to (toes in front of knees) genuinely does contribute towards better posture and musculoskeletal support during exercise sessions on the elliptical. The footpads are extremely comfortable to use when combined with the 18-21 inch adjustable stride which is the perfect range for the majority of users.

Unfortunately, the screen angle could cause a lot of issues for the majority of users; the angle it faces means you cannot view the screen properly during use. The colour of the writing is also not bold enough to see properly so the viewing is rather uncomfortable as you may have to stoop in order to keep an eye on your workout progress.

The fan is also quite poor and doesn’t move much air, this in turn doesn’t add anything to the comfort value of this trainer.

Performance

“The wireless heart monitor makes for easy use of the multiple programs built into the unit. The fan is a nice touch.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The programming is a little difficult but does offer a great variety in the way of intense, non-repetitive workouts. Most of the workouts have a adjustability capability within them which means you can vary your exercise even more. For example; the endurance program contains full programs which work you through different levels of intensity. Each of the 8 levels are adjustable in conjunction with the light touch control which enables you to change your workout intensity without even letting go of the handlebars (a nice touch…literally).

The facility to track your performance is available and your heart rate is accurately tracked using the wireless chest strap, however the facility to see the feedback is obstructed by the problematic screen. The trainer does optimize the heart rate data by adjusting the intensity of your workout to help you stay within your peak heart rate capacity; this feature is extremely useful and intuitive.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

smooth-fitness-agile-dmt-x2-elliptical-trainer-wheels

The Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer is easy to assemble and the manual is very easy to read and follow. The console itself isn’t particularly easy to use and the programming is a little fiddly.

The light touch control is very convenient and encourages you to push yourself harder during the programs because it is so easy to use. The screen angle is very inconvenient and renders the console itself very difficult to use during a workout session.

Entertainment

“I love the thumb contols and the built in iPod adapter.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

You get quite a lot on paper with the DMT-X2 entertainment features; an LCD screen, reading rack, iPod and MP3 docking station and inbuilt speakers. Unfortunately, these features seem to be a little bit of a gimmick rather than useful components for you to enjoy.

The LCD screen isn’t high quality and isn’t easily viewed because of the strange angle, the reading rack is OK but not particularly sturdy, and the iPod and MP3 docking station works fine but the sound quality of the speakers is fairly poor.

The fact that the programs are so intuitive and well thought out does however mean that the entertainment value of the machine itself and its workout capabilities shine through.

Warranty

  • Frame Warranty: Lifetime
  • Braking Warranty: Lifetime
  • Parts Warranty: 7 years
  • Labour Warranty: 2 years

Final Verdict

“Well made and built to last. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The Smooth Fitness Agile DMT-X2 Elliptical Trainer itself is extremely well designed and feels high quality and enjoyable to use. Unfortunately the design flaw of the screen angle combined with the below par standard of all the entertainment features means that in this instance, the $1800 price tag is a little steep.

You are getting a fantastic quality product for the price but with the programs being so brilliant, it’s a little annoying that you aren’t able to see them on the screen during your workout rather than just feeling the physical effects.

The manufacturer could have also put a little more into the entertainment features for an elliptical at this price point as slightly higher quality speakers would have been a nice addition.

Schwinn A40 Elliptical Trainer Review

The Schwinn A40 elliptical trainer is a high value, low budget elliptical machine that is easy to assemble and even easier to use. The machine has six different workout options, an integrated speaker system and ergonomic handlebars as well as 8 different resistance levels, biomechanically designed linkages and heart rate sensors on the handlebar grips.

The assembly is incredibly simple and the equipment can be set up easily by one person within an hour or so. The machine may not have all the bells and whistles of a more expensive elliptical trainer but, do you really need all those added extras when the base machine is such good value for money?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 22.5 (width) x 59 (length) x 64 (height) inches (572 x 150 x 163 cm)
  • 275 pounds (125 kg)  maximum weight
  • 90.4 pounds (41 kg) assembled weight
  • 115 pounds (52.1 kg) shipping weight

Key Features

  • Biomechanically designed linkages provide a comfortable and natural foot motion
  • Ergonomic handles for multiple workout positions
  • Compact footprint fits virtually everywhere
  • Perimeter weighted flywheel for smooth, consistent workouts
  • Fast and reliable electromagnetic resistance system
  • Oversized stabilizers and levellers that are built-in for a solid workout platform
  • 8 resistance levels
  • 6 fitness metrics, including Calories, Heart Rate, Speed, RPM, Time, and Distance
  • Integrated grip heart rate system for easy fitness monitoring

Comfort

schwinn-a40-elliptical-trainer-footpads

For the price, the Schwinn A40 elliptical trainer is incredibly sturdy and well-designed. The oversized stabilizers and levellers mean the machine doesn’t wobble or rock, even when it is used on maximum power and movement levels. The perimeter weighted flywheels combined with the biomechanically designed linkages create a smooth, elliptical movement that would usually be associated with much higher budget machines.

“It has a very quiet operation and very smooth movement. It’s typical Schwinn quality. Excellent.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The stride could be difficult and uncomfortable for users over 5′ 7″ as it isn’t adjustable, this is also a potential issue for shorter users who could struggle to use the machine at its full stride of just 17-inches. This is a common problem with budget ellipticals but doesn’t render the stride quality itself any less effective for those able to use it comfortably.

Egonomic handles at this price point are a really excellent addition to the adjustability of the machine and really contribute to the overall workout facilities. Although the machine can be a little stiff to use at first (while the grease works its way round the machine) the mechanics begin to glide smoothly in record time and you’ll find it stops being stiff within the first few workouts.

One small complaint is that the pedals could be a little more flexible, which would support the body more efficiently combined with the smooth motion.

Performance

“It gives a smooth fluid motion. I can work up a sweat on this machine without the impact of walking/jogging” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

Considering the machine only has 6 workout settings; calories, heart rate, speed, RPM, time, and distance, you’ll still find you’re able to achieve maximum workout performance with little effort. The machine does have grip sensors to monitor your heart rate, which do work but can’t always be relied upon to create an accurate reading. The console also doesn’t allow for height and weight considerations which means your calorie burn readings are more than likely going to be a little inaccurate too.

The multifunctional LCD screen allows you to track workout feedback such as; time, RPM, distance, pulse, speed, calories, resistance level and course profile. These features are pretty standard but still contribute to a really good value budget elliptical package.

The adjustability and customization options of the machine mean you do have a decent library of features to adjust and combine to adapt the machine and it’s programs to suit your workout needs. The strong base and smooth features mean that even as a standalone piece of equipment without any programs it would provide you with every opportunity to perform intensive cardio exercise and extensive, full body muscle workouts. The timer settings and quick start options mean it’s also an excellent piece of equipment to combine with varied exercise routines as well.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

schwinn-a40-elliptical-trainer-console

The Schwinn A40 elliptical machine is easy to construct and assemble with clear instructions and loose parts handily contained in plastic pouches. The weight of this machine also means you could move it around if you wanted or needed to with little fuss.

The programs are very easy to use, with just three buttons either side of the screen (six altogether) you’re unlikely to find the console complicated to operate. The screen graphics are basic but tell you everything you need to know, the lighting on the screen isn’t excellent so make sure you have adequate lighting where you intend to use it or you may find you’re struggling to read the feedback.

One small ‘niggle’ is that the reading rack is a little on the slim side meaning that you may struggle to balance more than a magazine on the ledge; the bottle holder is perfectly adequate though and situated centrally for easy reach.

Entertainment

“Once together the machine works great. I like the built in speakers so I can listen to music while I work out.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

In terms of entertainment, the Schwinn A40 is limited to the slim reading ledge and inbuilt speakers. You can connect an MP3 to the console but the sound quality is a little on the basic side.

That being said, at such a budget price, the sound system is actually a lot better than some more expensive models and perfectly adequate for a workout session. If you do want big sound, you’ll have to set up something outside of the machine.

Warranty

  • Frame: 2 years
  • Parts: 6 months
  • Electronics: 6 months
  • Wear Parts: 30 days

The Final Verdict

“Sturdy, quiet & everything I need in an elliptical” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

Despite a few minor issues, the Schwinn A40 elliptical trainer really is exceptional value for money. For just a few hundred dollars you’re getting a whole lot more for your money than some mid or even high-end budget elliptical machine. The only real issue in terms of performance and comfort is the relatively short stride length which comes in at just 17-inches. You might want to consider the Schwinn 460 (although it is nearly double the price of the A40) if you require additional adjustability as far as the stride length is concerned.

Overall though, the Schwinn A40 is a fantastic elliptical trainer. Sure, some of the features may leave a little to be desired, such as the stride length and speaker system, but overall you’re getting a smooth, quiet, robust, adjustable machine that’s constructed to a really high standard. For the price, it can quite rightly be called a ‘bargain’ and is certainly worth every penny.

Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer Review

The Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer is a mid-range machine that has been designed to provide the user with an impressive selection of workout options and entertainment features, as well as an extremely sturdy, durable and rugged base to workout on.

It boasts 22 different workout options, a dual LCD window system, 20 levels of resistance, 10 resistance quick keys and a 3-speed fan, to name just a few of the mammoth list of impressive features. The Schwinn 430 also works alongside a fitness tracking app which suggests it really is completely set up to be a top of the range, user friendly, modern workout machine.

It is also the successor to the Schwinn 420 and features noticeable improvements, albeit at a slightly increase price tag.

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 28.2  (width) x 70.1 (length) x 63.2 (height)  inches (71.5  x 178.1 x 160.5 cm)
  • 300 pounds (136 kg) maximum user weight
  • 168.7 pounds ( 76.5 kg) assembled weight
  • 226.5 pounds (102.7 kg) shipping weight

Key Features

  • 22 programs (9 profile; 8 heart rate control (4 Beginner; 4 Advanced); 2 custom user defined; 2 fitness tests (1 Beginner; 1 Advanced); 1 quick start) and additional features
  • Schwinn DualTrack™ two LCD window system allows you to monitor up to 13 different display feedbacks
  • Time, Distance, and Calories goal tracking with USB data transfer functionality to the Schwinn Connect™ website and compatibility with MyFitnessPal
  • USB charging port
  • 2 user capability for multiple user set-up
  • 20 levels of eddy current resistance aligned with a high speed, high inertia perimeter weighted flywheel for a smooth and quiet workout
  • 10 resistance quick keys to rapidly take you from easy to hard and back again
  • Large footplates allow you to place your feet in a position that’s comfortable for you and are cushioned to make long workouts a little easier
  • 3 LED tracking lights
  • Ergonomically placed moving and static handle bars
  • 3 speed fan, oversized center mounted water bottle holder and transport wheels
  • Sealed acoustic chamber speakers for big quality sound

Comfort

schwinn-430-elliptical-trainer-footplates

Without even using the Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer, you learn through initial delivery and set up that it is very heavy. As long as you position it where you want to use it (there are transport wheels should you change your mind), this is a real positive, especially for people who are quite stocky or tall. The sturdier the machine, the safer you feel and this elliptical definitely delivers on its promise of a robust, solid base.

“The resistance buttons are on the control panel, right at your finger tips. ” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The footplates are large and cushioned which is a real bonus for those with larger feet or those who find long workouts uncomfortable on the balls of their feet. The high inertia perimeter weighted flywheel makes for a smooth and quiet elliptical movement which softens the walking motion and contributes to musculoskeletal support.

You’ll also have refreshment at your fingertips with the double water bottle holder centre placement.

Performance

You’d be hard pushed to complain about the plethora of programs and customization options available on the Schwinn 430. If you’re new to elliptical trainers or full body exercise as a whole you may find the beginner programs a little more demanding than the description suggests. However, the fact that the beginner options start off at quite an intermediate level of physicality suggests that the higher levels are designed to really push your physical skills and endurance.

“Once assembled and checked out, I found the unit to be quiet in operation with a nice solid feel.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The 10 quick resistance change keys are a fantastic feature for those wanting to use quick burst interval training techniques rather than slow build up programs. The ergonomic handlebars also allow you to customize your workout even further and work different muscle groups with the capacity to use multiple handlebar positions.

The integrated heart monitor sensors on the handlebars are designed to help you track your heart rate while you workout. Unfortunately grip heart rate sensors are notoriously inaccurate and can’t be relied on to give you a 100% accurate reading, the sensors on this machine do not disprove this theory and give out varied readings at times.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

schwinn-430-elliptical-console

Despite the size and weight of the machine it is fairly simple and easy to setup and contains pre-greased moving parts which means you’re saved the effort of messy grease application and lubrication procedures.

In terms of workout programming, it’s all pretty straightforward and easy to use once you’ve spent a bit of time working through the various settings and options. A user manual for the programming is not included in the package but can be easily downloaded from the manufacturers website, which is a little irritating but not a massive problem, especially if you’re logging on to set yourself up with the integrated fitness app ‘My Fitness Pal’.

“There is a USB port to charge your mobile or tablet device!! You can also plug into the auxiliary port to use the speakers and play music–it even comes with the cable needed!” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The USB data transfer facility is extremely useful as it allows you to track your progress outside of the machine itself, transferring time, calorie and distance data onto the Schwinn Connect website. The USB port also charges iPhones and similar tech, which is a nice touch.

Although the multiple user functionality, LED tracking lights, incredible workout selection and 20 levels of eddy current resistance all make for a convenient workout package, the height of the machine can cause a few problems. The shortest incline still leaves users who are over 6 foot in height at risk of a ceiling collision; this is something to bare in mind if you have low ceilings throughout your property and are particularly tall (or have a tall partner).

Entertainment

The Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer really has over delivered on entertainment value in the way of a decent fan, USB charger, inbuilt speakers and dual track LCD window. The way the machine is set up means you’ll have no trouble keeping entertained with the various customization options, particularly the quick resistance change keys which allow you to switch up your workout intensity with one button click. The dual track window allows you to keep track of your speed, distance and calories burnt as part of a 13 feedback option feature.

The sealed acoustic chamber speakers don’t offer you the same quality a full sound system would, but they’re of a much better standard than previous models and offer a decent enough sound for a workout, so long as you’re not a die-hard audiophile.

Warranty

  • Frame: 10 years
  • Mechanical: 2 year
  • Electrical: 1 year
  • Labour: 90 days

The Final Verdict

“I LOVE this machine!” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

If you’re looking for an elliptical with bells, whistles and more, the Schwinn 430 Elliptical trainer is definitely for you. It delivers in entertainment, performance and comfort and overall there’s really not a feature on it that doesn’t deliver to a more than acceptable standard.

It also features a 20-inch stride length which typically, will be comfortable for most people no matter what height you happen to be. If you do prefer the customisability of a variable stride length but like the features of offer from the Schwinn range of elliptical machines, you might want to check out the Schwinn 460. This machine features a variable stride length between 18 and 26 inches.

Overall though, the Schwinn 430 offers exceptional value for money considering it retails well under the $1000 mark and provides an all round, enjoyable elliptical experience.

Schwinn 460 Elliptical Trainer Review

The Schwinn 460 is a mid-range elliptical trainer which leads with its variable stride technology. The machine features an adjustable fan, 16 workout programs, bi-directional pedals and the ability to track one or two users.

As mentioned, the main feature of this elliptical is its variable stride technology, which allows the user to adjust their stride using a wheel track system that adjusts when pressure is applied. This means your stride be adjusted to suit your height and your preferred workout intensity.

With such emphasis on this feature, you’ll want to know how it benefits your workout and if has any impact at all on the smooth elliptical motion. Is this elliptical still an all-round, good quality exercise machine? Or does this feature impact the other workout facilities?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 34 (width) x 54 (length) x 73 (height) inches (137 x 86 x 185 cm)
  • 300 pounds (136 kg) maximum user weight
  • 221 pounds (100 kg) assembled weight
  • 234 pounds (110.2 kg) shipping weight

Key Features

  • STEP to target calves and quads.
  • WALK to work your thighs and glutes.
  • RUN to lengthen your strides and engage all muscle groups.
  • Independent footplates let you target core muscles while engaging your arms, shoulders, and legs
  • Bi-directional pedalling allows you to pedal forward or backward to target specific muscle groups.
  • 16 total programs, including 11 workout profiles built by the Nautilus Institute® with instructional messages on how to maximize your workout benefits
  • Schwinn Advantage® workout system tracks results and programming for up to 2 users
  • Dynamic backlit touchscreen console
  • Oversized water bottle holder and angle-adjustable fan
  • Quiet, magnetic ECB (Eddy current brake) resistance
  • Chest strap with telemetric and grip Heart Rate monitoring
  • Transport handle and non-skid wheels

Comfort

schwinn-460-elliptical-trainer-comfort

The variable stride on the Schwinn 460 elliptical trainer enables taller users to facilitate full elliptical training without restricting stride issues common with the majority of elliptical trainers. The average stride length is 18-inches but can be adjusted to up to 26-inches using the variable stride feature.

“It has a smooth flowing motion that will get your heart rate up if you choose to take advantage of the full length of stride.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

This is a really exceptional feature for those who struggle to find an elliptical trainer compatible with their height, or those looking to share the trainer with someone much shorter/taller than themselves as adjustments can be made as necessary. It also means those with smaller strides are able to use the machine with ease, although the handlebars are non-adjustable so although the stride may be accommodated for, shorter arm reach will still remain an issue for some.

The movement of the variable stride feature is unfortunately not as smooth as you might expect it to be, although it’s certainly not terrible by any means. You use it by increasing pressure on your stride depending on how large you want your stride length to be. The track system enabling you to do this is simply not designed well enough to compensate for this level of movement and creates a slightly bumpy, interrupted elliptical movement which can be disappointing.

The fan does go some way to provide a cooling effect but can’t be considered a quality feature as it doesn’t isn’t that powerful. The pedals are adequate but could benefit from some gel cushions, particularly as foot movement is a major part of the key variable stride feature.

Performance

Assembly: so easy, all the parts and tools are well marked, just follow the instructions and it is a breeze, took me only an hour to put together. – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The performance of the Schwinn 460 elliptical trainer is somewhat clouded by the variable stride system that doesn’t support your body in the way an elliptical machine should. Full body workouts require full body support and the track issues during strides mean you can on occasion feel a little uncomfortable working to full capacity. The whole system does take a bit of getting used to but once you do, it isn’t so bad at all.

Aside from this potential problem, the workout programs are perfectly adequate; the 11 workout profiles built by the Nautilus Institute® are well thought-out and the instructional messages (and messages of encouragement!) do push you to work harder during the session. If you can get used to the variable stride system, you can easily enjoy all the workout capabilities offered by this machine and customize them further using the 16 different resistance levels available alongside the bi-directional pedalling.

The chest strap is always a welcome addition to any elliptical trainer when the grip sensors are so often inaccurate; the console display also allows you to track time, interval Time, RPM, watts, distance, pulse, speed, calories, resistance level and course profile.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

schwinn-460-elliptical-trainer-drinks

Assembly: so easy, all the parts and tools are well marked, just follow the instructions and it is a breeze, took me only an hour to put together. – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The Schwinn 460 machine itself is fairly easy to construct and remains sturdy during use. There can be an issue with a knocking sound when you use the stride to its full capacity, but this is rhythmic and doesn’t necessarily disturb the workout.

The backlit console is clear, easy to use and is also touch screen which is useful if you’re in the full swing of a workout and need to make swift adjustments to your program. The bottle holder sits at a convenient level just underneath the console and is oversized, allowing you to use most different sized water bottles without any issues.

Entertainment

The entertainment on this mid-range elliptical is minimal in the way of music input or EBook holders, but it does give you an excellent selection of workout possibilities that should keep you entertained for a considerable amount of time. The tracking options are a great way to stay motivated and push yourself to increase the resistance levels and opt for the harder workout options.

It’s a little disappointing that there is no ledge for a book or tablet PC, but there is space for your iPod/MP3 player in the drinks holder (if your bottle isn’t too big).

Warranty

The Final Verdict

This a great machine–it is very smooth and quiet! – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

Although the Schwinn 460 Elliptical is designed to give you added workout benefits in the way of variable stride technology, it can actually end up detracting from the overall workout features offered by the machine, especially as it requires a bit of a learning curve to get used to.

At around $1000 dollars it’s a good quality trainer with plenty of interesting workout options and a sturdy frame to suit most heights and weights. However, the variable stride technology could be off-putting for those who enjoy the smooth, natural stride of other ellipticals.

Overall, the Schwinn 460 offers good value for money, providing you can get used to the variable stride motion.

The Schwinn 470 elliptical trainer is an all singing, all dancing elliptical with an amazing number of programs and useful extras. It boasts an impressive 29 programs, a USB charging port, an adjustable fan and 4 user capability amongst a plethora of other great features.

Comfort

schwinn-470-elliptical-trainer-footplates

The Schwinn 470 elliptical trainer has a lot to offer in the way of comfort, the adjustable fan is a real treat because it packs enough of a cooling punch to actually make a substantial difference to your workout experience (something you don’t often get with value ellipticals).

“Great machine, very stable and I am 240 pounds, so far so good.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The movement is smooth, quiet and natural due to the eddy current resistance brake system and high inertia perimeter weighted flywheel; you’ll find this remains the same during all levels of program and ramp adjustments.

The 20-inch stride length ensures that most height ranges can enjoy the machine without feeling stretched, strained or restricted. The ergonomically placed handlebars are comfortable to use but the angle they are placed at can make it difficult to avoid collision if you’re pedalling whilst operating a phone or taking a drink (not that you should be operating a phone, really!).

The water bottle holder is within comfortable reach and leaves enough room to place other items alongside it like a phone or keys. The oversized cushion footpads are really comfortable and support your feet well enough to promote longer workouts.

Performance

It’s difficult to knock the Schwinn 470 machine in the way of performance because it quite simply delivers everything you need to enjoy challenging and varied workouts. It doesn’t feel as smooth as a gym elliptical but it feels like an excellent quality home elliptical which is exactly what it claims to be.

“It operates very smoothly and quietly, and it offers plenty of features that make your workout as easy or challenging as you wish.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The movement of the trainer alone is enough to support a full body workout before you’ve even engaged any of the systems or adjustability features available. The 29 programs consist of; 12 profile, 9 heart rate control, 4 beginner, 4 advanced; 1 custom, 4 custom user defined, 2 fitness tests,1 beginner, 1 advanced, 1 recovery test and 1 quick start. You can also use the DualTrack backlit LCD window to track feedback such as; time,  RPM, distance, pulse, speed, calories, resistance level, course profile, heart rate zone indicator,  % complete indicator,  intensity meter,  user indicator and  goal achievement.

A great feature of the Schwinn 470 elliptical trainer is the integrated USB port which gives you the ability to download workout information onto Schwinn Connect and My Fitness Pal; a compatible app that you can use to track your fitness progress (which is also completely free to use).

The 4-user profile capability is useful for those who purchase the machine for the whole family to use. The heart rate sensors on the handlebars are OK and the product does have telemetry capability but this feature isn’t useful if you’ve purchased the product without the compatible chest strap (an optional extra).

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The Schwinn 470 is very easy to set up although the actual manual for use (once set up) does not come included in the pack so you have to download it from the website or order it from customer services. This isn’t unusual for a modern day elliptical trainer, but it can be annoying if you’re more a ‘hard copy’ kind of person.

“I assembled the unit myself in a little over two hours.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The Schwinn 470’s features are all easy to operate and the control panel is particularly simple to use (despite initial appearances), although it could easily be simplified with a few less directional arrows.

The moving mechanical parts do need to be greased regularly which can be a little annoying, but ensures the parts stay running smoothly and protects the rest of the machine from damage.

Entertainment

schwinn-470-elliptical-trainer-console

The speaker system is quite an improvement on previous Schwinn models and does create a sound that is off higher quality than you’d typically get from phones or tablets. It couldn’t be called ‘big sound’ as Schwinn describes but it is more than acceptable.

As described above, the incredible range of programs, adjustability and customization options mean you really shouldn’t find yourself bored during your training sessions. Having a rack that holds a tablet is also a great way to pass the time during your workout, but it’s a shame it covers the feedback information and isn’t extendable above the monitor.

Warranty

  • Frame: 10 yrs
  • Mechanical: 2 yrs
  • Electrical: 1 yr
  • Labor: 90 days

The Final Verdict

“Trust me on this one, because you will love this machine!” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The Schwinn 470 elliptical trainer offers truly exceptional value for money. The programs and adjustability features are all useful, the stride is a few extra inches more than you tend to get with standard ellipticals (20-inches) and all of the extras that come with the product are genuinely useful and work well.

The build quality of the machine is of excellent quality (as you’d typically expect from Schwinn) and with a generous warranty, you can rest assured that your elliptical machine will work perfectly for years to come, even if something does happen to go wrong.

The fact that the Schwinn 470 features a number of bells and whistles (such as the sound system) is a great bonus and certainly ensures that the machine is worth every dollar.

Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer Review

The Schwinn 420 elliptical trainer is a budget, streamlined machine designed to deliver exceptional workout results with a bi-directional pedal system, 8 workout programs, 20 resistance levels and an in-built fitness test, all provided at an extremely affordable and reasonable price.

It’s a modern-looking elliptical trainer offering an impressive range of entertainment and comfort related extras in the way of an in-built speaker system, cooling fan and multifunctional console that has different areas able to hold various media such as e-readers, tablets or even just a good old fashioned book.

It’s also a high performance machine with plenty of frills, but do the frills deliver or detract from the usability and overall  quality?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 26 (width) x 62 (length)  x 71  (height) inches (66 x 158 x 180 cm)
  • 300 pounds (136kg) maximum weight limit
  • 164 pounds (74kg) assembled weight
  • 167 pounds (75.7kg) shipping weight

Key Features

  • Biomechanically designed linkages means a comfortable and natural 18-inch elliptical path
  • Ergonomic handles for multiple workout positions
  • Speakers and MP3 music input port in a console that holds magazines, eBooks or other media in multiple locations
  • Bi-directional pedalling allows you to pedal forward or backward to target specific muscle groups.
  • Perimeter weighted flywheel with high inertia for smooth, consistent workouts
  • Oversized stabilizers and levellers that are built-in for a solid workout platform
  • 8 workout programs, 6 course profiles, fitness test, and custom workout
  • Integrated grip heart rate system
  • 16 resistance levels

Comfort

The Schwinn 420 elliptical trainer has a very chic, modern look to it which doesn’t necessarily suggest it will be the most comfortable machine to use. Despite appearances though, it is in fact extremely user-friendly and the oversized stabilizers and levellers alone mean the machine feels extremely sturdy once set up, so you really do feel comfortable and safe working out full throttle from the onset with no worry that the machine will topple or break.

“ I really like the arched foot pedals. The motion feels more natural and somehow better on the knees.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The bi-directional pedals are designed to work multiple muscle groups but they also contribute to the workout comfort levels as they have been designed to move and glide smoothly, which they do combined with the perimeter weighted flywheel system and biomechanically designed linkages.

Unfortunately the cooling fan does fail to move any air and cool the user down, which is a real shame considering the effort has been made to build one in. Even on its highest setting it can’t really be felt at all, so it could be considered an irrelevant feature overall.

Performance

“ The motion of the machine is whisper quiet.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

Despite a few disappointments in the way of entertainment (which we discuss further below), you will not feel as though you are using a budget elliptical in the way of performance and usability. The Schwinn 420’s movement is smooth, the machine sturdy and the inbuilt programs (combined with the bi-pedals) give you a fantastic facility to exercise different muscle groups alongside a decent selection of workout options which are comparable with any high-end elliptical trainer.

What’s more, the ergonomic handles provide you with the opportunity to work your arms in multiple positions, enabling you to really hone in on specific muscle groups and customize your workout even more.

The actual workout programs are very much a base for you to build on, providing you with standard cross training systems that combine with the bi-pedal and ergonomic handles to facilitate every workout option you might need.

The fitness test is a really useful feature for those looking to improve their fitness levels and skill set, although the system itself only allows for one user to save their customized program and progress which can be a little irritating if more than one person in the household uses it regularly.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

schwinn-420-elliptical-trainer-drinks

The Schwinn 420 elliptical trainer is very easy to set up considering all the parts it consists of; it also comes with transport wheels which means you can change its location if you want to.

The display screen is user friendly and simple to use but is not backlit which could prove to be a problem depending on the lighting in the room you use it in. It is also quite small and faces at an angle (alongside the reading rack and EBook holder) which means those over 6 foot may find viewing difficult.

The machine also proves a little difficult for shorter users because of the arm reach, although the ergonomic handles go some way towards alleviating this problem. The foot pedals could benefit from a gel cushion but this isn’t too much of an issue if you wear good training footwear throughout the workout.

Entertainment

“Has a nice e-book reader, which allows me to put my Amazon Kindle Fire on it, surf the internet, watch movies, listen to music, etc” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The included entertainment features (or lack thereof) are where the Schwinn 420 really falls short. The inbuilt speakers work well, but give out a low standard of sound. The fan (as mentioned above) really doesn’t contribute to a cooling system and the workout programs can be a little complicated to use.

The one positive entertainment feature is the multiple EBook and media stand options; the various potential EBook placements around the console mean you’ll have no trouble setting up your own entertainment on this machine.

If it is purely used as an exercise machine you will certainly have enough customisable options and programs to keep your exercise routines varied and entertaining.

Warranty

  • Frame: 5 years
  • Mechanical & Electrical: 1 year
  • Wear Parts: 90 days
  • Labor: 90 days

The Final Verdict

For under $1000 dollars, the Schwinn 420 Elliptical Machine is incredible value for money and really offers an attractive range of features for the price. There are a few notable issues with the entertainment on offer, but the issues don’t negatively affect the elliptical itself or its quality as a high performance machine.

“Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a well-built budget elliptical.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

It should be noted that the Schwinn 420 does have an 18-inch stride length which, while perfectly adequate for most, may feel a little short for those taller users (i.e. anyone over the 6 foot mark). If you’re looking for a machine with an adjustable stride length, you might want to consider the Schwinn 460, although this does come in at around double the price of the 420.

One thing’s for certain, you simply cannot question the value for money with the Schwinn 420 Elliptical; it’s not ‘all singing’ entertainment-wise but it is ‘all dancing’ (and more) as far as its sleek sturdy design and customizable features are concerned.

Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer Review

The Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer is an all round, high performance machine with a large amount of scope for customized workout options. The machine includes 15 workout programs and 20 different resistance levels meaning you get a huge amount of choice in how much you want to vary your workouts, making them extremely easy, extremely difficult or pretty much anything in between.

The machine also features inbuilt heart sensors on the handlebars as well as a heart monitoring chest which works great when used alongside the heart rate bar graph display.

It may not have much in the way of fancy frills or technical features such as music systems or a cooling facility, but it does have everything you need (and more) to enjoy a wide range of challenging workouts with a difficulty level of your choosing.

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 27.5 (width) x 69.5 (height) x 65 (depth) inches
  • 325 pound (147kg) maximum weight limit

  • 245 pound (111kg) assembled weight

Comfort

diamondback-fitness-1260ef-elliptical-comfort

Physical comfort is almost perfect with the Diamondback 1260Ef; the extra wide foam cushion footpads and Krayton rubber comfort grips make for an ease of use and physical comfort level typical of higher end machines.

“The 19 inch stride is very comfortable for someone 6 feet tall.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The specification boasts ‘permanently lubricated polymer bearings’ and it’s right to boast, it makes for a very smooth movement that really supports full strength workouts without any damaging musculoskeletal jerking or jolting.

The only downside is the fact that the arm reach appears to have been designed primarily for those over 5′ 7″, which can be a problem if you’re shorter than average and purchased the 1260f elliptical specifically for a full body workout.

Performance

The performance of the Diamondback 1260Ef is where it really comes into its own. It’s almost as though the manufacturer bypassed the extras completely in order to provide exceptional performance features at such a reasonable price. It’s safe to say that the users workout experience really has been the true focus with this machine.

“It’s very smooth, very quiet, and feels very solid.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

You’ve really every reason to use it indefinitely without getting bored because of the various different workout options available. Not only do you have five basic workouts using the quick start option; manual, random cross, interval, hillclimb and sprint, you also have five workouts specifically focused on cardio; target heart rate, heart rate interval, fat burner, heart rate hill and cardio. You can also use three different cross trainer workouts; glute burner, quad builder and total trainer. The cross trainer workouts in particular get your entire body working right away, the resistance really pushes your glutes while your arms feel the burn with the smooth, lengthy handlebar glide.

“The 19 inch stride is very comfortable for someone 6 feet tall.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The inbuilt warm up and cool down options are not to be discounted either, there’s a lot of evidence to show your body really benefits from these processes, minimizing muscle strain and post-workout stiffness.

All of these programs are easily accessed and used without even starting to customize programs using the 20 levels of resistance. The free heart monitoring chest strap is a nice touch, as handlebar grip sensors are notoriously inaccurate, it would also be a shame not to be able to track heart rate with five programs designed specifically for cardio. It is unquestionably a machine built to do exactly what it says on the tin with absolutely no messing around.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

“It took about 3 hours to assemble and everything worked the first time.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

At 245 pounds assembled, the Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef  elliptical trainer is certainly no lightweight to move. You’ll want to set this up exactly where you intend to use it unless you have a strong friend to help you move it around.

The step by step instructions (detailing each assembly part) make for quick and easy construction with little to no fuss which is definitely a bonus when lots of small parts are involved.

The drinks holder is just underneath the console which is within easy reach, the reading rack is OK and works fine but could be considered a little irrelevant for users who would more than likely prefer a more modern extra.

Entertainment

diamondback-fitness-1260ef-elliptical-trainer-entertainment

If you’re looking for a straightforward workout with a huge amount of variation possibilities, this is the machine for you. If you’re looking for an all singing, all dancing elliptical – you might find yourself a little unsatisfied with this machine.

The green LED dot matrix profile combined with the data display windows and LED program indicators mean you’ll always know how your workout is doing, but you’ll need to provide any extra entertainment yourself.

Warranty

  • Frame: Limited Lifetime
  • Parts: 3 years
  • Labor: 1 year

The Final Verdict

“Overall, a great product at a great price.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef elliptical trainer is a robust, sturdy, comfortable and well designed workout machine. It certainly won’t tick any modern entertainment boxes but, you’ll get all you’ve paid for from the workout program options alone.

Many of the more expensive elliptical models can short change the user on the ellipticals basic workout features in order to fit in as many flashy extras as possible. The Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical delivers where it counts, in the exercise department. It will most definitely deliver on results and durability which, in our opinion, makes it well worth the money in that area alone.

Precor EFX 5.37 Elliptical Trainer Review

Precor has a reputation for creating solid, long lasting exercise equipment that excels in quality. The Precor EFX 5.37 elliptical trainer is a top of the range residential elliptical designed to provide you with an at-home workout experience comparable to that which you would experience in the gym.

The crossramp technology enables you to enjoy ‘variable stride geometry’ which alters the way your feet travel on the elliptical; an intuitive and interactive feature that allows you to really ‘hone in’ on specific muscle groups. The smooth motion and design means your feet never leave the foot pedals; a comfortable and intelligent design feature.

At well over $4000 dollars the Precor EFX 5.37 places itself comfortably in the high-end of the elliptical market, but is it worth the money?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 30 (width) x 90 (length) x 63 (height) inches (213 x 76 x 56 cm)
  • 240 lbs (109kg) assembled weight
  • 290 lbs (132kg) shipping weight

Key Features

  • 15 – 40 degree ramp angle

  • 20 different resistance levels
  • Large LED display console
  • 4 user IDs
  • 10 preset programs; Aerobic Endurance Cross Trainer (2) Custom Gluteal (2) Heart Rate Hill Climb (3) Interval Manual (3) Weight Loss

  • Heart rate handlebar sensor and chest strap combined with telemetry and smartrate trackers

Comfort

Quite simply, the Precor EFX 5.37 elliptical trainer demands such a high price tag because it is extremely high quality. When you’re paying out over $1000 dollars on an exercise machine, you want to know you’re getting the best bang for your buck, particularly in relation to the comfort offerings.

“The motion follows the natural movement of your foot perfectly and your heel never comes off the foot pedal.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

With the EFX 5.37, the most exceptional part of the machine is almost certainly the movement. The fact your feet never leave the pads is ingenious and it’s where you’ll truly really feel as though you’re using a high-end elliptical (because you are!).

The movement feels extremely natural and also ensures that you’ll experience minimal negative physical impact in the way of musculoskeletal injury yet maximum impact in the way of a strenuous and demanding workout facility. Essentially, your body couldn’t be better positioned to take on the workout options brought to you by this elliptical.

The cup holder is central and within easy reach, the console below it is also central, large and clearly laid out so you can easily adjust settings during your workout. This might seem like a small and negligible thing to mention, but so many elliptical trainers get things wrong here, so it’s nice to see that the Precor EFX 5.37 excels in this department.

Performance

The Precor EFX 5.37 elliptical trainer is designed to help you excel in your workout, with high levels of adjustability and a decent selection of workout options. The adjustable incline ramp allows you to work various different muscle groups whilst you remain in the optimum workout position.

The stride is also adjustable from 21 inches to 24.5 inches which means those with a larger stride can still make the most of the full cross trainer capabilities, the adjustable handles also cater for those with a taller physique as well as anyone looking to chop and change their workout position.

“The 30 degree incline is amazing for building leg strength.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The free chest strap combined with the various feedback options means you can track your progress easily and the ability to log up to four users also contributes to the versatility of the machines tracking capabilities. The Smartrate and telemetry features are useful for those looking to achieve optimum heart rate during workouts; when the chest strap is used and weight and age are entered into the console, Smartrate enables you to whether or not you are on target for weight loss or peak cardiac rate for precision performance.

“There are some pretty in-depth and nice programs that take a minute to get setup.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The workout options are; Aerobic Endurance Cross Trainer (2) Custom Gluteal (2) Heart Rate Hill Climb (3) Interval Manual and (3) Weight Loss. For the price, you might hope for a little more variety, but given the customizing options available on the machine, you could easily create endless workout variations that are both interesting and challenging. It’s a machine created for those who are serious about fitness and customisation, not those looking for easy pre-programmed generic workout routines.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

“You can go to the company website and get a step by step video instruction on how to assembly it.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The elliptical trainer itself is extremely easy to use, particularly because the adjustability features cater for a taller user – something many ellipticals fall short on (no pun intended). The website has a step-by-step construction manual if you choose to assemble it yourself, which can be a little lengthy but isn’t too difficult for those with a basic mechanical knowhow.

It is a heavy machine and you’ll want to place it where you plan to use it if possible as it doesn’t come with transport wheels. The console itself is straightforward and comes with a quick start option if you’re jumping on as part of a larger routine.

Entertainment

precor-5-37-elliptical-trainer-console

Considering the price tag, it would be fair to expect a little more in the way of entertainment as there is no in-built sound system or extra features. Typically though, this is what you’ll find with the more expensive higher-end machines, as they’re really just focussed on providing a sound exercise experience with plenty of customizable options.

So, while the Precor EFX 5.37 elliptical might not feature a low-quality in-built sound system or other additional gimmicks, you can rest assured that these features have been sacrificed for the greater good of the machine as the manufacturer has focussed solely on what’s important, rather than gimmicks that truthfully, only really have a place on lower-quality machines.

Warranty

  • Lifetime Warranty on the Frame and Welds
  • 10 year or 5 year Warranty on Parts and Wear Items
  • 1 year Warranty on Labour

The Final Verdict

“If I had to make my purchase over again I wouldn’t change a thing.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The Precor EFX 5.37 elliptical trainer certainly provides a full body workout experience comparable with high quality gym equipment. If you’re looking for a robust machine that’s sure to last you a lifetime (literally, as the warranty lasts a lifetime), this machine is definitely for you.

If, on the other hand, you define ‘value for money’ on the extra features and gimmicks included with a piece of fitness equipment , this elliptical trainer probably isn’t for you. You’re really paying top price for quality here, which you definitely get, but there are other ellipticals with comparable quality (albeit slightly lower quality in most case) and competitive extras that the Precor EFX 5.37 simply doesn’t have.

Nautilus E514C Elliptical trainer Review

The Nautilus E514C elliptical trainer has been designed to give you a full body workout whilst offering various useful feedback options and additional extras in the way of; speakers, a 3-speed fan and a retractable reading rack. The machine also offers 16 levels of resistance, 20 workout programs and 2 user settings as well as static and moving handlebars.

The machine comes in at just a few hundred dollars, which should make it great value for money when you consider the huge amount of key features you get with the machine. Is it good value for money? Are all the features necessary? We discuss in more detail below.

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 26 (width) x 62 (length) x 71 (height) inches (66 x 157 x 180 cm)
  • 300 pounds (136 kg) maximum user weight
  • 164 pounds (74 kg) assembled weight
  • 180.8 pounds (82 kg) shipping weight

Key Features

  • Compact front drive 18” fixed stride
  • Articulating foot plates with large foot pads
  • 16 levels of magnetic resistance
  • 17.6 lbs perimeter weighted flywheel
  • Oversized console loaded with features:
    • Large 2.25” X 5” LCD window with multicoloured brickyard
    • 20 programs with additional features and 2 users settings
    • 3 speed fan
    • Speakers
    • Integrated water bottle holder
    • Retractable reading rack
    • Telemetric enabled heart rate (chest strap not included)
  • Grip heart rate
  • Static & moving handlebars
  • 4 integrated levellers for a solid workout platform
  • Transport wheels
  • AC adaptor (included)

Comfort

nautilus-e514c-elliptical-trainer-footpads

The Nautilus E514C elliptical trainer has a lot to offer in the way of comfort, the 4 levellers alone make for a sturdy and safe feeling platform. Using a machine with a strong base tends to mean the more energetic workouts feel a lot more secure than on machines which rock and sway on full impact.

“It is easy to use, VERY QUIET, smooth and very comfortable.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The 17.6 pounds flywheel certainly does contribute towards a relatively smooth and natural feeling elliptical movement (which isn’t completely free of clicks or slight track hitches), but it moves perfectly well and works better after the first few uses once the grease has worked its way around the mechanics.

One unusual problem with this machine is the fact that despite its limited 18-inch stride, it seems to suit those over 6 foot tall. On a lot of ellipticals, you can find that they cater for a person of average height and those who are taller or shorter struggle with stride or arm reach. In this instance, the handlebar movement seems better designed for those with a longer arm reach which means those who are shorter or even around average height (5′ 7″) may struggle to use the moving handlebars.

Of course, the elliptical movement is still usable with the static bars but you would miss out on a full body workout.

The water bottle holder is integrated into the console and is easy to reach, although it could be a little more oversized to allow for easier access. The footpads are a nice large size and comfortable (although they would benefit from some gel cushions) which means longer workouts are that bit easier. The retractable reading rack is suitable for a book, e-reader or tablet; it works fine but is on top of the console which means you may struggle to see it from all angles if you happy to be particularly tall.

Performance

The Nautilus E514C has a huge selection of 20 workout options including; 8 heart rate control programs, 3 beginner programs, 3 advanced programs, 1 quick start option, 2 custom options, 1 beginner feedback option, 1 advanced feedback option, and 1 option labelled as ‘other’. This means you’re well set up to start working out as soon as you’ve set the machine up. The heart rate controls work alongside handlebar heart rate sensors which are notoriously inaccurate at reading heart rates, but do offer a rough estimate nonetheless. the machine does have telemetry facilities but the chest strap is not always included in the price which seems a shame when the capabilities are there.

“The stride is comfortable and the foot pedals are large enough to adjust foot position according to individual comfort.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The full feedback capabilities are; time, interval time, watts,  RPM, distance,  pulse, speed, calories, resistance level and profile; so you really should be well set up to enjoy endless workout possibilities as you progress whilst tracking your improvements as you go.

It definitely does have more programs than a lot of elliptical trainers out there in the same price range and you’re able to customize your workout using the 20 different resistance levels, although the workout options could be a little more imaginative and more varied.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

“The display is easy to read, & saves your place in your workout if you need to stop for more than a few minutes.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

The Nautilus E514C elliptical machine is easy to assemble and comes with all small parts wrapped in plastic. It is quite heavy to move around so you’d do well to place it in the room you’re planning to set it up in as it’s not easy to move in the box. Once set up however, the transport wheels are fantastic and make for easy maneuverability if it does need moving, the footprint isn’t too big either which is great for compact gym areas.

The display screen itself is very simple to use and works well, but the quality of the graphics is very poor and reduces the overall quality feel of the product. It’s a small issue that doesn’t affect the quality of your workout.

Entertainment

nautilus-e514c-elliptical-trainer-entertainment

Aside from the below par graphics on the console display screen, the exercise programs themselves still provide a satisfying selection of workout options for regular users. The quick start option is always a bonus if you use your elliptical as part of a more varied routine, or if you’re a little low on time and need a quick workout.

The fan is unfortunately none adjustable which means you have 3 relatively weak speeds from a fan that doesn’t move much air around and doesn’t seem to face a direction that would particularly benefit the user.

The music system is nothing special to say the least, but at this price it’s great to still have one integrated. If you do wish to use the system, we’d recommended using headphones rather than relying on the speakers as you’ll get the best from the sound system on offer.

For big, bassy sound you’ll need to set your own system up outside of the machine.

The Final Verdict

“Overall, excellent value for money and works perfectly.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon.

Overall, the Nautilus E514C elliptical trainer is a great budget machine with a lot to offer. If you discount additional extras such as the fan, speakers and quite frankly dire graphics, the machine itself is actually great and offers good value for money.

The 20 different programs, robust stand and high quality movement are all worth the few hundred dollar price tag, without even factoring in any additional extras.

The only real negative is the arm reach, so if you’re under average height, this may not be the perfect elliptical for you (although you can choose to hold on to the fixed handlebars).

[geot country=”United States”] The Kettler Cross P [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] The Kettler Cross P [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] The Kettler Cross P [/geot] is a lightweight machine that is designed to be set up in a home gym and remain sturdy and robust once constructed. Although the front and back stands have rubber floor grips, the machine can still feel a little unsturdy during use which doesn’t encourage you to use it at its full capacity as the slight rocking motion can feel a little unsafe. The 30-pound flywheel does contribute towards a fluid and smooth movement which is enjoyable, it also allows the body to feel supported during workout programs.

The perspiration resistant keys do contribute to overall comfort as it can be difficult to adjust settings on some elliptical trainers mid – workout, sometimes to the point where you have to pause the exercise which is more than a little off-putting if you’re really pushing yourself during a session.

Despite it’s ‘slimline’ nature, the machine works really well during exercise sessions and feels fairly intuitive and reactive.

Performance

The [geot country=”United States”] The Kettler Cross P [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] The Kettler Cross P [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] The Kettler Cross P [/geot]’s target zone training combined with the continuous feedback functions and fitness test option mean you are able to consistently track your progress and monitor how hard you are pushing yourself. The 16 levels of electronically controlled resistance are a great way to intensify workouts and customize workout options if you feel you want to work harder and optimize the machine for fat burning.

“Unlike other ellipticals that I have tried, the Axos has no wobbles or squeaks.” – [geot country=”United States”] Click here to read the full review on Amazon [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] Click here to read the full review on Amazon [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] Click here to read the full review on Amazon [/geot]

It should be noted that the Ketter Axos P has a stride length of just 16-inches, which is a little less than most elliptical machines tend to offer. This isn’t really a problem unless you’re on the taller side (probably anything over around the 5′ 8″ mark) and for those on the shorter side, a 16-inch stride length may even be beneficial.

The elliptical does have handlebar pulse sensors which provide an adequate heart rate monitoring system, although the readings aren’t always accurate.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The fact the machine is slimline and lightweight means you’re able to move it around quite easily; this is beneficial to those who struggle to use home gym equipment without getting bored. It’s size and weight means you could easily move it into a room containing a TV or sound system and move it back into storage again if you wanted to after you’ve used it.

The compact nature of the [geot country=”United States”] The Kettler Axos Cross P [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] The Kettler Axos Cross P [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] The Kettler Axos Cross P [/geot] really is also a plus point for those who don’t have much space at home. It doesn’t require a large amount of floor room like some bulkier ellipticals and also doesn’t have to be set up where you plan to use it as it’s relatively mobile.

For the most part the machine is easy to set up, although you may need assistance from a friend or partner as some parts can be fiddly and difficult to balance alone. The lack of cup holder is incredibly inconvenient and means you have to leave the machine in order to refresh yourself which can be quite annoying if you’re mid-workout!

The sweat resistant keypads are a beneficial addition and make the programs even easier to use and interact with mid – training. The programming is very simple and doesn’t take long to set up.

Entertainment

[geot country=”United States”] kettler-axos-cross-p-programmable-elliptical-trainer-convenience [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] kettler-axos-cross-p-programmable-elliptical-trainer-convenience [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] kettler-axos-cross-p-programmable-elliptical-trainer-convenience [/geot]

The programs available are adequate, but can become a little tiresome when combined with a lack of customization and adjustability. The fact the machine is so compact means you can position it where the entertainment is (i.e. in front of the TV) and put it away again, but that doesn’t necessarily shine a positive light on the entertainment values of the machine itself, of which there is very little.

Unlike some elliptical trainers on the market, the [geot country=”United States”] Kettler Axos P [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] Kettler Axos P [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] Kettler Axos P [/geot] features no in-built sound system or even a ledge for your iPod or tablet PC. Although the lack of an in-built sound system is typical for an elliptical trainer in this price range, it would have been nice to see the addition of a small ledge.

The Final Verdict

The [geot country=”United States”] Kettler Cross P Programmable Elliptical trainer [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] Kettler Cross P Programmable Elliptical trainer [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] Kettler Cross P Programmable Elliptical trainer [/geot] comes in at under $600 dollars, placing it amongst other budget ellipticals. It is certainly easy to setup and use and delivers a range of motion that is comfortable and physically supportive. You don’t always get a natural motion in budget elliptical trainers so the [geot country=”United States”] Kettler Cross P [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] Kettler Cross P [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] Kettler Cross P [/geot] certainly scores points in the smooth motion department.

The fact it is compact and lightweight will appeal to people who don’t have much room and need to be able to move the machine around, which is beneficial in this instance as the machine itself has no entertainment extras and contains limited workout programs.

“I would recommend this to any who needs a compact and high quality piece of equipment.” – [geot country=”United States”] Click here to read the full review on Amazon [/geot][geot country=”United Kingdom”] Click here to read the full review on Amazon [/geot][geot exclude_country=”United States,United Kingdom”] Click here to read the full review on Amazon [/geot].

If you’re the sort of person who appreciates additional features and extras (e.g. an in-built sound system or iPod connectivity), there’s a chance you might feel a little short changed with this machine. It is compact and it does work well, but it really doesn’t compete in the way of adjustability and customization facilities when it’s compared to other trainers positioned within the same price range.

It’s definitely a machine that works well, but you might find other ellipticals on the market within the same budget bracket that give you that bit more in the way of additional features and extras.
