Confidence Power Plus Treadmill Review

The Confidence Power Plus Treadmill really is as basic and budget as treadmills get. At the super low price of $199 dollars you certainly do not get any bells or whistles with this machine, but you do get; a6 600 w motor, an easy fold feature, a 38.5 x 14 inch runway, easy transport wheels and a super low 53 pound assembled weight.

With an incredibly compact foldaway size and a ridiculously low price, is the Confidence Power Plus the king of all budget treadmills?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • Maximum user weight : 266 pounds (120kg)
  • Full product size: 49 x 24 x 11 inches (124.4 x 60.9 x 27.9 cm)
  • Runway Size: 38.5 x 14 inches (97.7 x 35.5 cm)
  • 53 pounds (24.04 kg) assembled weight
  • 57 pounds (25.85 kg) shipping weight

Key Features

  • Distance, time, calories and speed feedback readout
  • Light and convenient 53 pounds assembled weight
  • Easy and compact foldaway option, ideal for those struggling to fit in a full sized treadmill
  • 266 pounds maximum user weight- more than some more expensive models
  • 6 miles maximum speed
  • 30 minute safety turn off
  • LED display

At this price, you’re probably going to be impressed if the machine lasts for longer than a day. So you’ll be pleased to know that the treadmill itself has quite a nice, comfortable feel about it. There is no treadbelt cushioning and at just 38.5 x 14 inches, the treadbelt is pretty tight; you will need to put one foot very much in front of the other. The machine does feel remarkably solid considering it’s size and weight although you may want to stabilize it yourself if your floor is a little uneven as it doesn’t have the weight behind it to stick to the ground firmly.

There is a lack of cushioning but the treadbelt doesn’t feel terrible underfoot and is relatively smooth in movement. The compact type of movement needed to walk could mean some larger users or less agile users could struggle to use this machine but otherwise, it’s quite comfortable considering all the trimmed away features that are missing. It is most comfortable used for walking rather than jogging.

One uncomfortable feature to watch out for is the factory setting that means the machine turns off automatically after 30 minutes. It does stop quite abruptly which means if you’re in the swing of your movement and it stops you may well fall forward or fall over if your balance isn’t very good.

At this price you have no incline or decline features, no programs or quick keys and just the different speeds to use. This makes the treadmill perfect for absolute fitness beginners on a budget and also for people who like to set up treadmill desks.

The reason this treadmill is ideal for a beginner is because it doesn’t force you to splash out on something you may use once and never use again. It is one thing going to the gym and enjoying the treadmills there, but who’s to say you’ll use one at home. The Confidence Power Plus is a stripped back, basic treadmill which will enable you to decide whether or not you really like walking at home without breaking the bank. Desk treadmill users love this design because it’s around $800 dollars cheaper than actual desk treadmills and is actually more compact and moveable because it’s lighter.

So overall you don’t have much to play with at this price point but you do have a good, basic foundation to get yourself more active without feeling overwhelmed by unnecessary features.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The machine is extremely easy to set up and takes around half an hour in total to get up and running. It is much more foldable than the more expensive models and looks a little bit like a large folded deckchair when it’s been folded up. The wheels are also really handy and mean you can move it around really easily.

The machine itself is very convenient to use, you don’t have an overwhelming plethora of programs and customization options to work your way through and have an extremely simple LED display which tells you basic information readouts.
The only inconvenient feature of this treadmill is the fact that it turns off every 30 minutes because of the factory settings, however, as long as you’re aware of it you should be able to anticipate it somewhat during use.

There is no entertainment on this machine because it is so cheaply priced, you can easily use it in your TV room though as it’s so small and easily transportable.

Could not find warranty

The Final Verdict

The Confidence Power Plus treadmill is a real bargain and actually earns its salt more than slightly higher priced budget treadmills. It pretends to be nothing other than a bare bones, cheap, basic treadmill so you know exactly what you’re getting for your money.

It works well and is relatively aesthetically pleasing considering the cheap components it is made up out of.

Definitely worth purchasing if you want something basic to use as a desk treadmill, live in a space limited house or apartment or just want to try some in home fitness equipment without investing much.

Bowflex Treadclimber TC10 Review

The Bowflex Treadclimber TC10 treadmill is a complex looking machine which claims to offer three different workout options. Option one is the treadmill workout which works just like a normal treadmill where both belts move round at the same speed offering you a normal, treadmill workout. The second is a stepper movement where each ‘treadle’ moves up and down and offers you a leg workout (almost as though you are climbing stairs). The third is where both of these movements are combined to provide an apparent elliptical movement where the ‘treadles’ move up and down while the treadbelt also moves.

The question is, is the Bowflex Treadclimber TC10 treadmill a machine for treadmill beginners? And is it still low impact despite its extensive range of movement?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 30.3 (width) x 50.6 (length) x 52.3 (height) inches (77 x 129 x 133 cm)
  • 300 pounds maximum user weight (136kg)
  • 185 pounds assembled weight (84 kg)
  • 185 pounds shipping weight (84 kg)

Key Features

  • 4 Electronic Functions – Speed, Distance, Time, and Calories
  • 4 separate LCD display screens for easy viewing during workout
  • 4 mph max readout speed
  • Stores and tracks 1 user
  • Rear machine step platform
  • Great compact design that fits easily in any home
  • Reduce your exercise time with a super-efficient, low-impact workout
  • Covered by the Bowflex® Worry-Free warranty – 2 years coverage for entire machine
  • Backed by a Bowflex® 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
  • Some assembly required
  • Includes the Bowflex® Body Weight Loss Plan

The Bowflex Treadclimbler TC10 treadmill machine is relatively heavy but looks quite complex, lightweight and compact. The fact that it is so compact means it’s excellent for your home but a little worrisome when you get on it, especially for those with larger frames. As soon as you get onto the machine and start using it however, you feel confident in its ability to support any weight and movement as it feels incredibly sturdy and safe. The ability to step on from the back of the machine is also a useful comfort feature.

“I gradually worked my way up to 3 to 5 work outs a week, for 40 to 60 minutes a time at full speed. this has improved my quality of life greatly.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The treadmill feature is comfortable to use, the belt feels OK under foot and the separated tread tracks stop being so disconcerting once you’ve been using the machine for ten minutes or so. The step tread feature is not particularly comfortable to use at first because you worry about the grip under foot, however it’s smooth and you feel comfortable once you’ve used it a few times.

The ‘elliptical’ motion cannot really be compared to an actual elliptical machine and it’s a little difficult to find your point of balance when you first try it, but it is a great way to incorporate both movements on the machine and work different muscle groups.

In the way of performance you have three separate workout options, 4 feedback options, 1 user profile facility and a quick start facility.

The 3 separate workout options are fantastic for targeting different muscle groups whilst providing low impact high intensity workouts. The customization of the machine is innovative and creative which means you shouldn’t have any problems varying your workout routines manually.

“Variable workout not only by speed but by adjusting depth of step. Definitely a better workout than any other one piece of equipment I have used.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The feedback options are; speed, distance, time and calories which is perfectly adequate although a heartrate sensor would have been a nice addition at this price point. The user profile facility only logs one week’s worth of workout information at a time which is OK but a longer memory would be useful to track long term progress, especially if you’ve progressed a lot in your fitness. The quickstart facility is great and always useful, especially if you’re already warmed up and want to jump straight on.

The lack of inbuilt programs is a real shame as you don’t get any examples of how you can truly utilize all the different workout options.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

“It is a heavy machine, but went together fairly easily when you read the directions.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

If you’re a beginner to workout/treadmill machines, you may find the Bowflex Treadclimber TC10 a little intimidating. Those who struggle with balance and coordination may struggle a little at first with the different movement options, but they are easy to get used to once you’ve tried them a few times.

The machine is fairly easy to set up but is quite heavy so you may need it placed where you plan to use it right away. The controls are all incredibly convenient, mainly because you don’t have any programs to navigate. The four screens to view your feedback on are also very convenient, the water bottle holder and reading rack are all placed well within reach too.

You don’t have any additional entertainment on the Bowflex Treadclimber TC10 treadmill apart from the reading rack (which isn’t really entertainment alone!) and the facility to customize your workouts in a number of ways. The fact that the machine has three different workout options means you should feel entertained enough during exercise sessions.

Workout programs would have been a really excellent addition to the machine, particularly because they would be so varied using the different movement options. Bowflex have truly missed a trick by neglecting to provide that extra.

  • 2 Years – Covers entire machine

The Final Verdict

“Buy it and you will be thrilled!” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

For beginners, the Bowflex Treadclimber TC10 could be a little intimidating, but once you’re used to the different movements you’ll more than likely get used to all three and appreciate that you have a three in one machine, especially if you use a single movement machine elsewhere.

For around $2200 dollars, it certainly isn’t cheap and you don’t get many extras that you would normally get at this price range. However, what you do get is a machine that works three different ways and has the ability to work various muscle groups. It also offers a great range of workout options which is a lot more than single movement, higher budget treadmills, steppers or ellipticals generally offer.

We’d highly recommend you purchase this machine if you get bored easily and want a multifunctional machine.

The machine boasts 30 different preset programs, 3 zone variable cushioning, incline and speed adjustments, a compact folding frame, 6 feedback options, a heart rate sensor, an inbuilt fan and an MP3 compatible music system.

You get a lot of great features for the low price, but are they all good quality and most importantly, are they all usable? Are all 30 preset programs well thought out? Can the machine be used to its full capacity?

“It does not appear to me that it is large enough or sturdy enough for running. It is definitely great for home use where space is limited.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The Horizon Evolve SG Compact Treadmill is considerably more sturdy than you might imagine for such a compact, lightweight machine. The compact nature of the product does however have a few drawbacks; the short deck is probably too short for those approaching 6 foot and over, and is possibly a little too short for running altogether. The machine also moves a lot if you use it for jogging or running which doesn’t feel safe.

The actual tread cushioning is noticeable and does feel comfortable, but is a little wasted if you’re just using the machine for walking (which seems to be its main use). The handlebars could also be a little longer to create a more supportive feel for users with limited balance, especially as the deck is so short.

The main performance feature of the treadmill is based around the 30 different programming options which are; Manual, Steps (1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000, 10,000), Calories (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600), Distance (1mi, 2mi, 5k, 5mi, 10k, 8mi, 15k, 10mi, 20k, Half Marathon), and Intervals (Speed, Peak, and Endurance).

“It does not incline, but offers a variety of options to keep track of the speed, distance, heart rate, calories burned etc. of your exercise program.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

Unfortunately, a lot of these programs are simply unsuitable for the machine itself because it is so short and un-sturdy. A lot of users would more than likely feel uncomfortable using this machine at full speed and incline which renders the majority of these programs unusable unless you use them for walking only.

The feedback options are adequate and allow you to track; Speed, Incline, Distance, Calories, Time and Heart Rate. The pulse sensor on the machine is inaccurate which is common with these types of sensors, although it does provide a decent rough estimate. Unfortunately the machine is not telemetry enabled which means you can’t use a more accurate chest strap with it.

Overall it seems that the performance of the machine is somewhat stunted by its innovative, compact design.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The manufacturer claims you can have the treadmill up and running in 15 minutes. Unfortunately this is not the case for most people and will almost certainly take a little longer. The main issue in the instructions is the confusing treadbelt lubrication section, which is unclear.

“I took less than five minutes to turn it on, no need to do anything other than taking it out of the box, open it and plug it in the outlet.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

According to the replies from Horizon, you should not lubricate the belt until 150 miles has been done on the machine or 6 months has passed, whichever comes first, and there is a small bottle of lubricant included to facilitate this. Unfortunately the instructions do not make this fact clear.

The convenience of the machine is both its winning factor and its downfall. The compact nature has created undesirable restrictions with the machines capacity and performance abilities, but it does mean that those with space restrictions are able to use a treadmill that will easily foldaway and use a small amount of space.

The treadmill has MP3 compatible speakers and an audio jack. The speakers are of a good quality considering the price of this machine too.

The exercise entertainment features of this machine are restricted because of the size issues stated above.

  • Frame and Motor- 1 year
  • Parts- 1 year
  • Labour- 1 year

The Final Verdict

“I absolutely love this machine and would recommend it to anyone.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

Unfortunately, the Horizon Evolve SG Compact Treadmill falls short (quite literally) at the first hurdle. It has all the capability of being a great machine with its incredible range of programs and adequate adjustability options, but really is a little too compact to enable you to safely enjoy all of its features.

We’d recommend that you purchase this machine if you have very restricted space, budget and don’t mind using it for walking, otherwise invest a few more dollars in a more spacious machine and less compact machine. You might also want to purchase the Horizon Evolve SG Compact Treadmill if you’re an exercise newcomer and this is your first machine. The added entertainment system is a nice touch for a machine of this price.

Lifespan TR1200i Treadmill Review

The Lifespan TR1200i  is a well built treadmill with various intuitive and innovative features, beneficial for fitness beginners and experts alike. The machine boasts an Intelli-Guard safety feature, an Intelli-Step automatic counter, 17 preset workout programs and 15 levels of incline.

The machine retails for under $1000 and has many features you would usually associate with a higher priced machine; but are the preset workout programs well designed? Does the low price impact on the quality? Are the features entertaining enough without any actual entertainment features on the machine?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 33 (width) x 70.25 (length) x 55 (height) inches (82.5 W x 175.63 L x 137.5 H cm) Full
  • 33  (width) x 39 (length) x 66 (height) (82.5 W x 97.5 L x 165 H cm) Folded
  • 300 pounds (136 kg) maximum user capacity
  • 20 W x 56 L inches (50 W x 140 L cm)
  • 204 pounds (92.5 kg) assembled weight
  • 220 pounds (99.7 kg) shipping weight

Key Features

  • Intelli-Guard Safety Feature: The built-in Intelli-Guard™ pauses the belt if you step off during your workout. This is our unique safety feature for the user and those around them. When your foot no longer continuously strikes the belt surface for 20 seconds, your treadmill will automatically and gently come to a pause.
  • Intelli-Step Automatic Step Counting Feature:Intelli-Step™ counts and records the number of steps you take and displays them on the console. More accurate than a pedometer, Intelli-Step automatically detects the impact of your foot striking the treadmill belt. Increasing step count is one of the foundations of the American Heart Association’s recommendations for improving heart and overall health.
  • 17 Preset Treadmill Workouts: Designed by exercise physiologists for optimal safety and effectiveness, our 17 preset treadmill workouts can help you achieve your goal, whether they are weight loss, general health improvement or sports training. The TR1200i also offers 2 MyZone heart rate control programs and 2 customizable programs. The treadmill automatically adjusts incline and speed to keep you on target.

  • Heart Rate Monitor: Contact heart rate sensors and chest strap receiver (chest strap not included)
  • Readouts: Time, Calories, Distance, Steps, Heart Rate, Speed, Incline Level.

“I like that the stabilizing arms are not long – it allows you the freedom to really swing your arms if you are that type.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The Lifespan TR1200i treadmill doesn’t boast the same comfort features as some of the higher priced Lifespan models, but it still feels good to use nonetheless. The treadmill belt is not as thick as more extensive models and the deck doesn’t have as much shock absorption, but the machine still feels incredibly sturdy and robust.

Those with a large stride or those who are over 6 foot tall may find that the 20 x 56 inch belt is a little tight (it is more like 20 x 50) but those of average height who want to run at moderate speeds should find it adequate. The Intelli-Guard safety feature stops the belt moving if you step off for longer than 20 seconds, which is reassuring and contributes to the overall safety factor of the machine.

The Lifespan TR1200i has an excellent capacity for increased fitness performance because of its 17 different inbuilt programs. The programs are incredibly intuitive and cater for all users because they each specify different areas you may want to focus on and provide a very specific workout focused on that particular area.

For example, the healthy living option contains 5 different workout programs each with different levels of difficulty focusing on different muscle areas and offering varying levels of cardiovascular intensity.

“The speeds all appear to be very accurate, although the 1 incline seems more like a .75, but that’s not a big deal as you can always adjust up to compensate.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

You also have excellent progress tracking facilities with this machine in the way of  Time, Calories, Distance, Steps, Heart Rate, Speed and Incline Level readouts on the display, 1 user Lifespan Fitness Club membership (an online program interactive with your machine via USB) and a step counter that lets you know how many steps you take every time you use the machine.

The treadmill also has inbuilt heart sensor pads which are quite inaccurate but it is also telemetry enabled which means you can use a compatible chest strap (check if this is included) to monitor your heart rate more efficiently if you so desire.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The treadmill is extremely heavy and will need placing where you plan to use it if possible. You will more than likely be unable to carry the box on your own so should seek help from a family member or friend if you can. Assembly is relatively easy and shouldn’t take too long but does contain a few fiddly sections so the help from a family member or friend could come in useful there as well.

The foldaway feature is convenient but it does fold at an angle which could be a little annoying if you’re limited with space. The console is easy to use and has large soft touch buttons which feel very high quality, they also make operation easier.

The quick buttons are very convenient if you’re using the machine as part of a varied workout or if you’re already warmed up. You can advance all the way up to 11 degrees incline in three stages or all the way up to 6 MPH in three stages. These quick buttons do make all the difference when you’re trying to intensify your workouts quickly.

“It has a nice place to put my ipad when I work out so I can watch shows – and the speaker option in the treadmill is loud enough to hear my show easily over the hum of the motor.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The only ‘official’ entertainment feature on the Lifespan TR1200i treadmill is the inbuilt speaker and headphone socket facility. These are compatible with most modern music devices but you’ll probably need to use the headphones if you want to experience any quality of sound. The speakers don’t really pack a punch, but they are adequate and more effective than they would be if the machine itself wasn’t so smooth and quiet.

The actual exercise features on the machine should be more than enough to keep you entertained throughout your workouts as they really offer an excellent variation of programs and the adjustability and customization features mean you’ll probably be a lot more goal focused and challenged than on other similar machines.

  • Frame: Lifetime
  • Motor: Lifetime
  • Parts: 3 Years
  • Labor: 1 Year

The Final Verdict

“A lot of awesome features. Easy to fold/unfold. Awesome warranty. would definitely recommend it” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

For under $1000, this treadmill machines offers fantastic value for money and the vast majority of fitness enthusiasts out there will almost certainly enjoy it. For the money, you get a high quality machine with a great selection of intuitive workout programs, customization features and feedback facilities.

You’ll definitely be able to increase your workout intensity and progress long term with the machine too; the only drawback is that it isn’t really designed for full throttle sprints like some of the more expensive Lifespan Treadmills.

For the majority of users it is a fantastic buy, however, if you’re a really serious runner who needs specific bells and whistles, you’ll probably need to invest a little bit more in your kit.

Precor 9.27 Treadmill Review

The Precor 9.27 Treadmill is a well designed machine with various useful features and extras that provide you with a high quality, varied workout experience. The treadmill boasts plenty of features; including the option to have up to 2 user profiles, a ground effects impact control system, 10 inbuilt fitness programs, telemetry features with compatible polar chest strap and a 15% incline facility.

Precor is well known for its excellent gym equipment, but how does it’s home gym equipment (and more specifically, the Precor 9.27) compare?

Dimensions & Technical Specifications

  • 33 (width) x 85 (length) x 18 (height) inches (83.8 W x 216 L X 45.7 cm + 4 in / 10 cm with shipping pallet)
  • 350 pounds (158.7 kg)  maximum user capacity
  • 238 pounds (108 kg) assembled weight
  • 290 pounds (132 kg)  (+ 40 pounds/ 18.1 kg with shipping pallet)  Shipping weight

Key Features

  • Preset Workouts: Preset workouts designed by a leading fitness institute let you personalize your workouts to your fitness goals, add variety and stay challenged.
  • Ground Effects®-based Shock Absorption: Shock absorbers at the front of the deck cushion impact where your feet land. The rear of the deck is less cushioned to create a more stable surface from which to push off. The result is the smooth and natural feeling characteristic of Precor treadmills.
  • Precor Stride Support: The treadmill monitors the motor and adjusts the belt speed to match the slowing and accelerating natural movement of your foot with each stride. These belt speed adjustments help to reduce joint pain and prevent injury.
  • 3.0 HP Motor and 100% Maintenance Free Design: Powerful 3.0 HP continuous duty motor runs cool and quiet providing plenty of power and torque when you want it–such as during interval training when you need to speed up or slow down quickly. 100% maintenance free design means you won’t need periodic service calls.
  • Handlebars: Full Length
  • Heart Rate Monitoring: Touch sensor and with any Polar® compatible 5 KHz chest strap transmitter
  • SmartRate®: Yes
  • Speed Range: 0.5 to 12 mph / 0.8 to 19.3 kph
  • Deck Elevation Range: 0% to 15% incline
  • Number of User IDs: 2
  • Preset Workouts: 10

The feel of a Precor 9.27 treadmill machine is different to any other exercise machine; it has a particular bounce to it that cannot be felt on comparable products and really adds to the overall comfort and quality feel during use.

“Built to perfection, relatively easy to assemble, very comfortable low-impact deck, and looks classy in the home. ” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The handlebars are full length which is fantastic as you feel much safer using it, especially if you don’t have the best balance. The machine itself feels incredibly sturdy and is not foldaway like some similar models and feels all the more solid for that

One feature that isn’t particularly comfortable and is actually a little bit worrying is the amount of time the speed takes to decrease. The quick keys are excellent for increasing speed and incline quickly but they aren’t as fast at slowing down, this can be quite difficult for some people who do not have a high level of fitness and need to slow down imminently.

The Precor 9.27 has plenty of high performance features including the shock absorption, stride support, the user ID feature, the preset programs and the quick start options.

“There are many features the precor has that other brands do not have and it was worth the extra to get. ” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The shock absorption is particularly important because it prevents any extra strain being put on joints and muscles. You do tend to feel this benefit with most Precor models and the 9.27 is no different. The stride support is where the machine adjusts the belt speed to match the natural push off and landing of your feet so you feel little/no resistance against your feet and you feel as though the machine is working with you. It does this using impact detection and accelerates to accommodate your stride.

The user ID’s are always useful on an treadmill machine because you can track your progress and avoid inputting the same information every single time you use the machine. Unfortunately, on the Precor 9.27 treadmill, the machine only keeps your basic information but not previous workout information so you can’t track your progress on a continual basis, only on a workout by workout basis.

The preset programs offer 10 different workouts which utilize the machines customization facilities. They are fairly basic but leave out the guesswork if you want to enjoy a varied program without manually changing the settings throughout.

The quick start options enable you to change the incline up to 15% in 5% increments and change the speed up to 12 MPH. These are convenient features but beware, as stated above the machine does not slow down as quickly as it speeds up so do make sure you are comfortable at that speed and then some, before you continue intensifying your workout.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

Unfortunately, the console on this Precor 9.27 is not the easiest to use despite the fairly basic programming. The lack of workout information storage on the user ID’s is annoying and the control panel is a little fiddly.

The machine also comes to quite an abrupt stop at the end of a workout which means you have to keep an eye on the controls if you have headphones in which is a little inconvenient;  you have to keep an eye out or you’ll most definitely collide with the console.

“No iPod docks or integrated fans are present but the display is clear and provides the info you need for a good workout.”  – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The entertainment on this treadmill is limited to the exercise facilities only. It’s rare you find a treadmill at this price with absolutely no extras. Precor mentions on the website that they focus on the quality only with this product without including unnecessary extras.

The machine is certainly high quality without any extras but, some entertainment facilities are useful and at this price point, could probably be included without a real dent in their profit margin.

  • Parts – 3 years
  • Labour – 3 years

The Final Verdict

“I would totally recommend this treadmill to anyone. Amazing piece of equipment. Also great warranty.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

There’s no doubt that the Precor 9.27 Treadmill is a high quality, robust machine. Unusually for Precor, this particular model simply doesn’t meet the value for money test. You do get an excellent treadmill with basic features and customization facilities, but for around $2500, you really should have at least a few more bells and whistles.

There are many comparable products at the same price point which are of similar quality, with more extras and a better warranty. This Precor is definitely excellent quality, but simply doesn’t work for your dollars as much as it should for the price.

The Proshox cushioning on the Proform Performance 1450 treadmill can really be felt and encourages you to endure longer workouts. The machine feels incredibly sturdy and robust and you feel completely safe using it at full capacity.

The wide treadbelt is really useful as you don’t worry so much about your tread falling out of line, it also means you can vary your workout stance to work different muscle groups. The treadmill genuinely has the feel of a gym quality machine in both its tread cushioning, it’s sturdiness and it’s design.

“The on-board fan is wonderful and provides adequate cooling during my workouts.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The performance capacity of the Proform Performance 1450 machine seems to be based very much around its connection to iFit. If you are able to connect to this app (see below for more details on this) it has a lot to offer in the way of varied workouts. You can use Google Maps to interact with your local town layout as well as towns and cities much further afield. Impressively the app connects to the treadmill to mimic the inclines of the chosen route you create or choose to interact with. There are endless opportunities for varied and entertaining routes using the app which can only enhance your performance capacity. You also have a mammoth amount of progress tracking which enables you to monitor your progress in impressive detail.

If you struggle to use the app, you may feel a little short changed with your workout options on the machine. You might not have access to endless routes and personal trainer experiences but you will still have a pretty impressive machine at hand to play with. The 15% quick incline facility and 12 MPH quick speed option are particularly useful when you want to push yourself after hitting your stride.

The Proform Performance 1450 treadmill is so well built you’re perfectly equipped to enjoy plenty of varied workouts, it’s just a shame there aren’t any inbuilt programs to facilitate those who incur some of the machines Wi-Fi and software issues.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

The treadmill is very easy to set up and has a fold away option to help with storage. The slight angle of the foldaway position is a little odd, and doesn’t look quite as aesthetically pleasing as when the machine is set up fully.

The main convenience issues on the Proform Performance 1450 machine arise from the iFit app and the Wi-Fi capabilities. Considering the fact that the manufacturer boasts the iFit app as one of the key selling points, it doesn’t really give a clear enough view of what you are getting and you also don’t get a warning that it may not work properly. This isn’t the case for every user but you may well encounter a few issues.

“The touch screen is fabulous and the street-view workouts provide some interesting visual stimulus. I’ve been walking in Venice, Florence, Hawaii, and across the Brooklyn Bridge ” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

Firstly, the iFit (if you get it working) is only available for free for 12 months, so bare in mind that you may need to pay out for this feature if you grow to love it and want to keep using it after the 12 month period. Secondly, the product descriptions state you get full access to lots of different free features; unfortunately this is a little more limiting than it states and you may find you are told you need premium iFit membership for a lot of the features you thought were free. There are also a lot of WIFI issues where some users may not find their WIFI system at home is compatible with the software. Check with the manufacturer that the system you have at home is compatible before you purchase.

You may also find that the programs stall mid-workout or stop completely if your WIFI is down. This can become frustrating if you want to interact regularly with iFit and use all of its features during your workouts.

“I like being able to connect online as well as setting up maps around my neighborhood. Its really neat.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The main entertainment features of the Proform Performance 1450  are the iFit app and the 10-inch touchscreen. If your WIFI works, both of these features are incredible and the touchscreen alone is very attractive and easy to use.

The fact you can check social networking and watch TV shows while you work out is a great feature. The machine also comes with speakers which aren’t great but work adequately nonetheless.

  • Lifetime Motor, Frame, & Deck Warranty
  • 5-Year Parts & Electronics Warranty
  • 2-Year Labor Warranty

The Final Verdict

“I am very happy with the purchase and the warranty that Pro-Form has is one of the best in the industry.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

It’s a real shame that the software on the Proform Performance 1450 doesn’t work for everyone. For a product that leads with technology it’s certainly disappointing, as its key feature and you should be able to expect that those modern bells and whistles will be fully available to you as a buyer.

That being said, for under $2000 the machine is still incredibly sleek, modern and robust for the price.  The lifetime motor, frame and deck guarantee is enough to show you that Proform know their stuff when it comes to providing excellent quality and guaranteed longevity.

Despite its software shortcomings, you simply can’t dispute the fact that this machine is still an incredibly high spec, high quality machine that is built to last. Some much more expensive machines provide much less, so even without the software, it’s still excellent value for money.

“It is sturdy, runs relatively quite, and looks great.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The Livestrong Fitness LS15.OT Treadmill features an extra long 60-inch belt which is designed for an extra safe running experience. It also enables taller users (or users with longer strides) to enjoy full capacity sprints with no issues. This feature is very innovative and incredibly useful for serious runners and the safety conscious alike.

The machine is also incredibly sturdy to use considering its foldable capacity.

The storage facilities are generous and easily enable the user to store large water bottles, magazines, phones and other items easily. The fan is a great addition to the machine and creates an adequate cooling system that does contribute to a more comfortable workout experience. Considering the length of the treadbelt, the handlebars could be full sized to cater for those less confident in their balance and stride

The MaxComfort cushioning can really be felt which means the extra long belt can be enjoyed for longer with full throttle, endurance sprints.

The Livestrong Fitness LS15.OT Treadmill has plenty of performance features including; fitness programs and fitness tests, 0-12 MPH speed range and 0-15% incline range, quick speed and incline keys and a livetrack fitness journal to track your progress. The fitness programs on the machine include; manual, Rolling hills, Fat burn, Target heart rate, 5K run and Fitness tests (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, PEB, Gerkin).

“Feels almost as solid as gym quality – incline works / feels perfect.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The fitness tests are really useful as a tool for varying your workouts without the effort of any manual changes. The fitness tests in particular enable the user to really challenge their fitness levels and recognize which areas of their fitness levels need the most work, although they could be a little more interesting in their design.

The quick keys are always useful on an exercise machine because they allow you to jump on as part of a more varied workout routine or start vigorous exercise if you are already warmed up. You are also more likely to heighten the intensity of your workout if you can do so at the push of a button.

The livetrack fitness journal facility is incredibly useful for those wanting to accurately track their fitness progression.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

“Only negative I can think of is the monitor is a bit large on this, so if you want to watch TV while running, it may take some getting used to.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

One small problem with the Livestrong Fitness LS15.0T machine is that the wording on the monitor isn’t really large enough for some users. Because of this, some may require glasses to read them but obviously, most people don’t tend to wear glasses for working out. A simple zoom in or easy read function would solve this problem and on a monitor of this size, it’s a waste that this function hasn’t been implemented.

The monitor itself is extremely easy to use but does seem a little wasted on the simple programming and small writing. The manual controls take a little getting used to but you should get the hang of them with a little scrutiny of the manual. It is worth taking the time to understand the controls fully so that you can use all the different console features available.

Cheap Android Tablet + Netflix = Just as good as T.V. = Motivation = “Winning – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The entertainment on the console is generally good. You have a 10-inch Android tablet which allows you to access the internet easily and the MP3/iPod compatible speakers are of adequate quality and compliment workouts well.

The programs available could be a little more varied to offer more in the way of interesting workouts but otherwise, the machine has a lot to give in the way of entertainment, more than others in the same price range.

  • Frame and motor: Lifetime
  • Parts: Five years
  • Labour: Two years

The Final Verdict

“I really would highly recommend this.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The features on the Livestrong Fitness LS15.0T Treadmill are somewhat conflicting. On the one hand you have a high quality machine with an extra long platform able to accommodate professional runners who want to really stretch their stride, and on the other hand you have basic programming that is generally suited to beginners and moderate fitness enthusiasts (aside from the fitness tests).

It does seem that the machine could have been more accommodating in its technological design for those it accommodates the most physically. At around $2400, it does offer good value, particularly when you consider the excellent warranty, but running experts and enthusiasts may feel a little short changed when it comes to the machines program facilities.

The full sized handlebars with grips are an excellent safety feature, especially if you struggle with your balance. The Intelli-Guard safety feature is also reassuring as it automatically pauses the belt movement if it doesn’t feel any foot contact for longer than 20 seconds.

“I’m just north of 200 pounds and this treadmill can take a beating and still feel like it’s nailed to the floor.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

As the product is targeted towards running enthusiasts you would expect the treadbelt to be especially comfortable, and it is. The 2.8mm thick orthopedic belt and 8 compression shocks are noticeable and combined with the 20-inch width and 60-inch length of the deck, it makes for a fantastic platform for full stride, high speed sprints.

The speed and incline adjustments don’t interrupt the belt movement either so you’re always able to comfortably continue adapting your workout without interruption.

The treadmill is easy to set up and the foldaway feature is very convenient if you do not have much space and does not impact on the overall machine quality.

The control panel is easy to use despite its various different readout options, plethora of workout options and customization facilities and the large soft touch keys are also particularly user friendly.

The entertainment features on the Lifespan TR4000i treadmill comes in the form of the impressive amount of feedback and workout features available. The treadmill really is built with exercise in mind and caters for your personal workout preferences more than many similar models on the market.

The fact you can personalize your workouts so much should keep you well exercised, and well entertained.

“I’m just north of 200 pounds and this treadmill can take a beating and still feel like it’s nailed to the floor.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill has a 16 x 50 inch treadbelt which is more than enough length and width for most users.

Aesthetically, the short stands at the back of the machine don’t provide much reassurance in the way of stability, however once you’re on the machine there’s no question that it is perfectly sturdy. Despite its relatively lightweight frame, it still adequately supports those in the higher weight bracket.

When using it for the faster, higher incline settings, you may feel a little uncertain that it would take a hard pounding every single day, so it’s worth testing it to its full capacity because of the short 90 day warrantee.

The Comfort Cell Cushioning is definitely a huge plus point with this machine. Despite the budget price, the comfort cell cushioning feels like that of a higher priced treadmill and provides a comfortable, almost bouncy feel under foot which only encourages you to spend longer on the machine during workouts.

The Weslo Cadence G 5.9 is has a fair amount of performance enhancing features including the heart sensor, manual incline, quick speed control, feedback options and the 6 workout programs.

“This Treadmill performs just like the big professional models at the Health Club, without all the bells & whistles.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The easy pulse heart sensor is placed in the centre of the console and you use it by placing your thumb on the sensor pad until the machine acquires a reading. Inbuilt sensors are notoriously inaccurate and a more accurate telemetry feature with chest strap would have been a useful addition.

The manual incline moves up to 5% and definitely helps you push lower muscle groups, the quick speed control takes you quickly from your current speed to 10 miles per hour and really helps provide variation when you’re switching up manual settings.

The feedback options are speed, time, distance and calories burned and the 6 workout programs are based around a personal trainer workout. The workout programs do vary your workouts somewhat but you’re more than able to do that yourself using the incline and quick speed customization facilities as well.

Ease Of Use & Convenience

“I’m about 5’3 and put this together totally myself in about 1/2 hour with no trouble at all.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill is relatively easy to set up alone but if you can, enlist the help of a family member or friend as there are a few fiddly bits. It is also worth checking that all the parts you need are contained within the box when you receive it too. The short warranty means that you will not receive any missing parts after the 90 days is over, even if Weslo is at fault for not including the parts

You may also find their customer service department a little difficult to get hold of and they are unlikely to help you with missing parts if the warranty is up.

The machine itself is easy to use, the console is basic and the programming is easy to navigate your way around. The machine also has transport wheels which are convenient if you need to change its location.

Also, you can fold the machine away in just seconds, which is a nice convenient touch.

“I absolutely love it! I can set my water bottle right in front of me, as well as my iPad.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

There are no bells and whistles with the Weslo Cadence 5.9, but it does contain everything you need to stay entertained during your workouts.

You have a sturdy base so that you can train hard, basic feedback options to track your progress, manual incline and quick speed options to vary your own workouts and 6 programs to try out if you want someone to take the guesswork out for you.

  • 1 year motor warranty
  • 90 days parts & labour

The Final Verdict

“I am very impressed with this treadmill. There is nothing I would change about this product.” – Click here to read the full review on Amazon

The Weslo Cadence G 5.9 Treadmill certainly doesn’t come with many (or any) impressive extras or particularly innovative design features, but it does provide a good, basic workout for an excellent price.

At under $300, you can’t go far wrong, even if you only use the manual settings. As long as you check you’ve got all the right parts on delivery and you test the machine properly before the (slightly stingy) 90 day warrantee is up, you’re sure to get plenty of exercise and fun out of this budget treadmill.
